Vietnamese and Chinese are very similar. We have the same religion, celebrate the same festival and share the same work ethnic. Vietnamese also use the same writing script until they adopted the French characters. Many Vietnamese also speak Cantonese. Vietnamese and Chinese are like brothers and sisters .
It is a pity they chose not be part of the Middle Kingdom and abandon Hanzi.
That´s true: Chinese and Vietnamese have many things in common. Many say we are family, like the relationship between big and small brother.
You say what´s a pity that we chose not be part of the Middle Kingdom and abandon Hanzi. Well, the nationalistic sentiment among the Viets was actually the main reason to plit up with the Han´s, and even abandon the Chinese writing. I think the Chinese shall slowly accept the Vietnamese independence, after 2 milleniums.
