UN Security Council Meet On Kashmir Tonight After China Push: Sources

Interesting statement by the Russian UNSC Ambassador

Noticeable that there is no mention of the "k" word, and Amb. Polyansky simply calls for resolution of all Indo-Pak issues in general.

Also noteworty is russia's repeated mention of Shimla and Lahore. Interesting, because Pakistan has repeatedly stated that those documents became null and void post August 5th.

Literally one of the first words in that tweet is the "k" word

Anyway dont mistake neutrality as support for gangadesh, Pakistan supports bilateral discussions too but when Indians keep refusing to talk about Kashmir it become impossible to resolve it that way.

Actually the more that international observers talk about bilateral resolution the better it is for Pakistan because they will also see that India's behaviour is the only blockage towards peace.

So basically, more of the status quo. Works fine for India. BTW, why did China have to raise a last-minute motion at the end of a conference on Mali? Why wasn't China able to dedicate an entire closed-door meeting on Kashmir in December? Even today, the rest of the P-5 blocked further action on Kashmir.

What other choice do they have but to resist or submit to the Indians.

Kashmiri leadership has no choice. You are right. Either they resist the removal of 370 and even take overtly anti-India stances or they are permanently doomed by a replacement regime of leadership in IoK propped up by BJP.

The UNGA and even a large part of the global media has been severely critical of Israel for decades, but to what end? So long as Uncle Sam supports Israel, there are no diplomatic worries for Israel. That is the script Modi's India is following. I am not sure it's going to work for India in the long run because India is still not the Israel for the West, India faces millions of alienated Muslims at least in the Kashmir Valley, IoK shares a border with a powerful country which strongly supports Kashmiris, and, I believe, Indian society has not reached the calculated cruelty manifested by the Israelis in committing slow ethnic cleansing...

What makes you think India wants to commit ethnic cleansing? That is a very strong allegation, to say the least.

To turn into a full Hindu state. Simple.

But India has many other states apart from J&K. Even if J&K becomes a Hindu state based on your wild imagination, we are 20 crore Indian who are Muslims...

Oh come on, you know better than that! If J&K was somewhere near your Western Ghat region with no land neighbor around, then it wouldn't matter half as much as to who'd be the majority population. But J&K is in an extremely strategic location and all Pakistani and Indian PDF members know that.

Recently saw an interview of one of India's senior politicians P. Chidambaran; he called the IoK Valley as 'lost' to India, and questioned when have ever 7.5+ million people been made prisoners for so long. That Valley, so long as it has alienated majority population, is a strategic nightmare for India. Replace or dilute the population with a Hindu one and the threat lessens a lot. And some BJP idiots don't even hide about settling Hindus to the Valley.

India winning the 'hearts and mind' of the Kashmir Muslims is a No-go so long as the 370 annulment is not revoked and some semblance of autonomy and dignity is given to the Muslims there. Even the collaborative Muslim leaders of IoK are in detention now! So who's going to root for India except some usual traitors who'd be picked off by the locals one by one? It's a huge pool of angry, rebellious people in IoK Valley, ready to give India a hard time when the time comes.

Really. So why are your politicians and generals screaming day and night about invading Azad Kashmir? Why is it illegal to display the de-facto map of Kashmir in India? Why are Indians butthurt when other nations raise issues taking place in IOK?

Also the fact that they did raise the issue is big enough. China after the US is the most powerful country on the planet, atleast we have an all weather ally in our corner cant say the same for you people.

India will ensure that our land border will not change...But that does not mean pushing 100 million people to valley..
Yes, even if Hindus will not go in general to the valley but with removal of 370, Indian authorities ensured that separatism is not encouraged in any form of politics of JK.

Well..It is true that China is your ally. But the outcome of China’s effort to push Kashmir narratives is not dependent only on China.
So the outcome will be same even if China keep on trying for the same in future.

Kashmir topic is being discussed in open and repeatedly....... now what does India have to say? Where is Modi and his plans to isolate Pakistan?

..and what has been the impact? open and repeatedly discussed 'at places' and 'by those' who don't matter....
It's been close to 6 bloody months.....China/Pak couldn't even secure close door discussion on Kashmir..leave aside gaining support of countries to pressurise India.

Not even able to get support of 15 members of UN, to discuss Kashmir.....What else is isolation?

The US, Russia, and France have blocked UNSC action on Kashmir three times in a row. I think that's enough.

They all have stakes in India, it doesnt equal to all weather support or outright support for Indias position.

If China has now started openly supporting dialogue on Kashmir then who knows what will happen in the future. You forget that the neutrality or inaction of the UNSC right now is only based on strategic or trade interests, if the situation changes then all the members could easily change their positions.

That is true...I agree with you...And in the same way...like China changes its position in UN for Hafeez Sayeed vase for Pakistan too...So at the end of the day, India and Pakistan have to offer something substantial to accommodate any one from 5 UN members. That will ensure, status quo prevailed in UN for Kashmir issue and allow India time to accommodate the impact of 370 by the middle of 2020.

Neutrality means the status quo, and the status quo is beneficial to India. And no, the situation in the UNSC will not change. Even if India loses the support of the west, Russia will still support it and vice versa.
