UN removes five Taliban from blacklist

Rashid dostam was made commander in ANA and later he handed over many Pakhtoon children to RAW officials to be biologicaly modified as sucide bombers.

He also spearheaded the organ trade which eventually extended to Pakistan tribal areas until this mafia was exposed by a patroling team of Pak army.

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:
WOW I loved this part. Most humorous thing ..... Biologically modified WHAT IS THIS.:rofl::rofl:

.
There are only five Taliban members who have been removed from the Blacklist, all of them prominent and none of them in the ANA. SO I think you are confused about what you were trying to say or have misunderstood what I said.

I think you are confused about my post. Many of those who they claimed have renounced armed struggle against invaders have joined ANA but ended up blowing the American invaders.

As far as the list and removing them from the list well its the acceptance of locals who are fighting against US invaders.

Simple as that.

BTW wasnt the figure is 10

Maulvi Kalamadin insisted it was only a temporary suspension and that females would return to school and work once facilities and street security were adapted to prevent cross-gender contact

Asia Times Online: People say that the Taliban government is against education for women, and women in general. Is that true?

Kakazada: How can this be possible? Education is given to girls to the age of 12. We had planned to expand this for adult girls, too. But the US has attacked us and smashed our designs. We are also not against women coming out from their homes. It is their right, but they should cover themselves properly because it is Islam.

What design and project is he talking about? they came into existence in 1995 and until the time they were removed it was already 6 years of girls educational life was wasted. 6 years is temporary for them? what a logic.

So you have no proof in other word that the taliban leadership where not educated.

List of Taliban leaders - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

All I am saying is that I am unaware of the Taliban having an education. But if you can prove that majority of them were educated then i am listening to you. And thanks for providing Wiki link, it only gives the list of taliban warlords, but not their education.

So the civil war in Afghanistan that led to the rise of the taliban was fought with no weapons?......and hekmatyar was the only one carring a gun, your fomer prime minister.

Please read my comments properly before replying to it. All the 8 groups of Mujahideen plus Dostom's party were busy in fighting, where did i say Gulbudin was the only one? I said that among those mujahaideen groups, Gulbudin is the only one who is still destroying Afghanistan and the others have laid their weapons down.

The West raised slogans about women's freedom and their equal rights. I ask them, have they given equal representation to their women in parliament or in jobs? Has there ever been a woman president in American history? If not, then why do they challenge our intentions. They should first introduce reforms in their own set-up according to their rhetoric, and then demand us to introduce the equal rights. Basically, Western societies want too much liberty for women for their evil designs.Asia Times: There will be no surrender: Taliban envoy

This guys is truely a Talib. Presidents get elected in America unlike the taliban and its type which rule the people on gunpoint. This was a very childish argument by him.

I think it was more like 5 years they held power and in that time they got rid of the majority of the poppy production and bought law and order.....that was the priority.
Given more time the taliban would have evolved like the ayatollahs.

Even if the taliban are all educated to the highest standard it will make no differnce to your opinons......its just a little stick you can beat them with.

I other words there was a full scale civil war which you prefer to a taliban govt.

Hitler was also elected and look at where that eneded up.

and the US rule afghistan also from gunpoint but that acceptable.

Poppy is not what you and me are talking about, it is the education. let the taliban say whatever they want to say, but nobody is gona believe them, they didnt let the girls to go to school, they didnt have the intetion, if they wanted to let them go, they could do it so easilty.

Even if the taliban are all educated to the highest standard it will make no differnce to your opinons......its just a little stick you can beat them with.

You are very right, taliban's education will not change my mind. first of all they are not educated and even if they were educated I would have given the same verdict about them. One thing can only change my mind if they accept the constitution of Afghanistan, lay down their weapons and start a life which wont include killing of their peoople and destroying their own country. That is the reason i have always admired and respected Mutawakil, Mullah Salam, Zaef and others for their right decisions, they are true sons of their country despite the fact that they once were taliban warlords, but they are not warlords anymore. I saluet these individuals.

I other words there was a full scale civil war which you prefer to a taliban govt.

There was a full blown civil war during the Taliban time, hope you shold know this. Taliban committed unforgivable crimes, they killed 10s of thousands of innocent people and that included kids and women.

Hitler was also elected and look at where that eneded up.

yea, it is possible if people make mistake and elect the wrong guy, but electing somebody is always the good thing rather than a bunch of theives who come with the guns and rule us.

and the US rule afghistan also from gunpoint but that acceptable.

America is there to fight a war, but we are electing our own parliament and president, although the last election was hit by fraud, but it is still better than the gunpoint rule and you shouldnt forget that if the taliban didnt disrupt the election in the south, we would have had an election with fairness. in the areas where the talian were not active, the election was good and a success, that included a very large part of the country. north, west, central, capital, and east of the country.

There seems to be a lot of confusion about the issue of the Talib in Afghanistan - if Talib are good for Afghanistan, why are theyh bad for Pakistan???

To get a more rational perspective, lets look at why Talib has emerged as an opposition, lest look to see why Tajik, Hazara, Turkoman and Uzbek, and even Pashaie are not generally part of the Talib movement -- we may conclude that the Talib movement in Afghanistan is sustained primarily by the fears and alienation of the Pashtun Majority -- now before we hear from our friend Ahmad that Pashtun are not a majority, lets clarify that among minorities, it is a majority --

This understanding of the Talib in Afghanistan suggests a political problem between the ethnicities -- lets not allow ourselves be trapped into thinking that alternatives are this idiot GIRoA or the stupid and murderous Talib - similarly, lets be open to evaluating whether or not this ISAF has any legitimate role in Afghanistan.

So long as there continues to be a denial that the Bonn process was deeply flawed and that a new series of negotiations among domestic stakeholders is not initiated, Afghanistan will remain a nightmare for all concerned - the lives of service men and women, will have be been, in my opinion, recklessly threatened.

The problem of Afghanistan is neither Al-Qaida nor "terrorism" rather, it is a political problem that in it's denial and cover up, gives space, or excuse, for political positions that have failed to deliver, to not be held accountable for failure and to allow for new thinking.

It might even be too late for such thinking - the home front, as far as the ISAF is concerned, is already collapsed -- for people of conscience and responsibility, it is an imperative, to think clearly and offer leadrship that allows the discussions to be reframed with the realization that the Bonn process must be revisited.

UN is a joke, it has no relevance these days.

Seeing girls without noses and ears is just too traumatizing to me

The Afghan girl is back

While Sharbat Gul’s eyes powerfully transfixed the world from the cover of National Geographic in 1985, Aisha’s ordeal depicted on the cover of Time this week fixates our attention on where her nose would be. The metaphoric pain in the eyes has given way to the figurative – in this case, the disfigurative.

The visceral cringe at Aisha’s mutilated face is surpassed by the painful cerebral spasm at the congruent headline: “What Happens If We Leave Afghanistan.”

The connective logic is that gruesome violence against women would occur were the US to leave Afghanistan. Like it isn’t now.

The story shows what the Taliban are capable of doing. Yet the US policy includes negotiating the ‘good’ Taliban. In the early phase of the War on Terror almost a decade ago, the desire to liberate Afghan women framed the attacks on Afghanistan as a ‘just war,’ sidetracking the revenge for 9/11 into philanthropic bombing for justice and rights of women. Afghan women were positioned as the voiceless subalterns of the Taliban Islamist order, and magnified voices from across American government, media and civil society called for occupation for liberation.

When the presence of coalition forces didn’t dissolve the blue burqas or give women economic opportunities and in fact, added to the list of women headed households without means of survival, the world muttered ‘culture’ and got on with the rest of it. Afghan women receded into the background again, to crop up again only now, when the US’s justification of its presence is under strong attack, support for its troop presence in Afghanistan at an all-time low.

Except that Afghan women did not quite disappear in the middle. The Revolutionary Afghan Women’s Association (RAWA) declared US and its stooges as the main human rights violators in the country, and if there is any ambiguity where RAWA’s loyalties lie, there slogan is, ‘Neither the US nor Jihadis nor Taliban, Long Live the Struggle of Independent and Democratic Forces of Afghanistan’. Founded in 1977, RAWA is the oldest political and social organisation of Afghan women struggling for peace, freedom, democracy, and women’s rights in an Afghanistan, and are as opposed to the Northern Alliance, who the US allies with, as the Taliban. They also question where the $38 billion allocated for Afghanistan since the invasion has gone.

Nor is it a matter of RAWA versus the rest. As someone who has considerable experience of working with women survivors of violence, I have evaluated women’s shelters in Afghanistan and monitored women’s rights programs for donors. I have seen horrendously scarred women, even grotesque amputations and burns, all of whom acquired their injuries while under the protection of US occupation. While the US cannot be directly held responsible for domestic violence, they patronise provincial governors and officials who allow such practices to continue, adjudicate them in instances, in addition to cluster bombing and aerial attacks on civilians that pass through sanitized semantics to appear as tangential collateral damage. There are no verified counts of Afghan civilian casualties by US assaults, and political analysts have been of the opinion that this is deliberate, while every coalition casualty is well-documented. Countless women approach shelters simply because they have nowhere else to go to, once their male family members and children are wiped out in such attacks.

The Time magazine cover has started a controversy that has already drawn hundreds of comments. The attention, however, has been not on the tagline but on Aisha’s photograph, whether it was exploitative or shockingly violent or desensitising. How about asking these very questions about the occupation?

I remember seeing a strange discussion on an American daytime TV talk show, on whether date rape was worse or stranger rape, with women who had experienced either one trying to prove theirs was a more painful experience. Domestic mutilation or international bombing seems to offer Afghan women the same choice.

While Aisha’s picture conjectures what happens if they leave, in effect, emotional blackmail for supporting the war offensive, another photograph of a woman torn apart by bomb shrapnel, bleeding to death while in her wedding dress could be captioned: “What Happens if They Stay

In the transition from Sharbat Gula’s haunting eyes to Aisha’s ghost nose, the world has had to lower its gaze.

What do you mean to say "It will please you" .

It is a worldwide known fact where ever American forces have gone they have done a lot of illicit sexual activity with locals be it Japan, Korea, Philippines I won't be surprised if some news comes in next 2 weeks about Americans doing with Iraqi women. May be that is in their culture or blood.

Afghanistan Wants More Taliban Off UN ‘Blacklist’

KABUL, Aug 10, 2010 (AFP) - Afghanistan asked the United Nations Tuesday to remove more Taliban leaders from its sanctions terror list as part of efforts to end a deadly insurgency.

The request by the troubled nation's powerful National Security Council follows the removal of 10 Taliban and 35 Al-Qaeda members from the blacklist by the world body earlier this month.

"Afghanistan's National Security Council, after investigations and assessments, has recently sent a list comprised of 47 people... to the United Nations to be removed from the blacklist,
" a statement said.

President Hamid Karzai has offered an olive branch to the Taliban and other insurgents in return for reconciliation.

The removal of Taliban militants from the UN's blacklist was also requested by a grand tribal assembly in June.

"The Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, by sending the list, took another step towards implementing the decisions of the Peace Jirga," the statement said.

Individuals on the list are subject to asset freezes, a travel ban and an arms embargo.

^^^ OH DAMN!! this is bad news for indians who believe UN BLACKLIST is complied of people & organizations that have "evident proof" against them!!

give it sometime JuD will also come off :chilli: no solid proof has been provided against it to UN yet!

UN BLACKLIST is just a propaganda list!! they put anyone they deem "evil"! all of this is done for their greater motives!

It seems that US/ISAF/UN contacts with the Talib and if the above report is correct, even Al-Qaida, have been on going and are continuing and becoming stronger - a curious development given that a section of the US intelligence community continues to point fingers at what they call their ally, Pakistan, for maintaining contacts with the Afghan talib movement - most curious.
