UN Poverty Estimates for India: A Simply False Euphoria

In Norway, we call it proverty when children are in homes where parents cant pay for leisure activities like paying for footballclub membership, buying snowboard equipment, going on vacation and so on. Which in reality are luxuries compared to two generations ago.

Indian politicians may just set a very low bar for what proverty entails.

Indians use a very low bar for poverty so they can claim that a large portion of people in India are "middle class" and they have certain purchasing power, which can attract FDI using fake data.

In India, housemaids and taxi drivers count as middle class.

By that measure, half of Bangladesh can be considered middle class, all factory and agri workers fall in that category.
