Ukrainian company Ukroboronservice, part of Ukrainian state concern UkrOboronProm, presented a new WAC-47 variant of the M4 assault rifle at the shooting range of Ukrainian National Guard near Novo-Petrictsi village, not far from Kyiv.
According to the Ukroboronservice, the American company Aeroscraft, founded by Igor Pasternak (an immigrant from Ukraine), and the State-owned company Ukroboronservis will co-operate to produce M4 carbines to NATO standard.
WAC-47 is a variant of the M4 assault rifle has been designed to replace Soviet-designed 5.45/7.62mm AK weapons in Ukrainian service. WAC-47 is a modular assault rifle in 5.56mm calibre and can quick conversions to 7.62mmх39. Additionally, it is possible to adapt to the latest types of ammunition: .458 SOCOM or 6.8 mm Remington Special Purpose Cartridges.
WAC-47 main peculiarity is design modularity, allowing to create various versions that best meet the needs of the soldiers. This allows switching calibers, increasing or reducing the length of the barrel, changing units of the weapon, from rifle butt and hilt up to the firing mechanism. The new rifle can be used as sniper rifle for infantry, equipped with a longer barrel and optical sight.
The WAC-47 assault rifle is accurate at a range of up to 400 m and has a rate of fire of 850 rds/min. The rifle weighs 3.4 kg with an empty 30-round magazine and has a length of 940 mm without a silencer (barrel length 400mm).
