The Ukrainians put forward several proposals for joint projects with Azerbaijan on producing ordnance for combat vehicles and upgrading engines and transmission.
Azerbaijans Ministry of the Defence Industry is considering the proposals at present with the sides are expected to discuss the projects in detail in the middle of 2012.
Ukraine has several projects to modernize obsolete Soviet tanks including production of the T-64 Bulat, BMP-64 and BTR-4U combat vehicles.
Meanwhile, Turkey and Azerbaijan have been holding talks on setting up joint production of Turkeys third generation Altay tank, defence sources say.
The Altay tank is produced by South Koreas Hyundai Rotem and Turkeys Otokar, based on the South Korean XK-2 Black Panther. The new vehicle, with a larger turret and improved protection, is thought to cost $500 million. The new generation Altay will gradually replace the Turkish armys existing Leopard, M60 and M48 tanks.
Azerbaijan is also reported to be interested in the TR-300 Kasirga rocket and the Pars, Kirpi and Arma armoured vehicles.
The long-range Kasirga TR-300 is produced by Roketsan, which is already supplying various missiles to Azerbaijan.
