You know how many sikhs are in UK? About 490 thousand according to 2011. The ones that selected "Asian Other" were 83K. We sikhs have this philosophy of shunning the worthless causes. We have bigger fish to fry in the West than to bother if the UK or Canada registers us as 'Indians' or 'Asian Others' or 'Sikhs'.

Sikhs who are citizens of the UK can identify themselves as whatever they want? Hell its 2018, they can identify as Caitlyn Jenner for all we care.
This is not an Indian issue, it’s an issue within the Sikh community in the UK and the larger UK population.

Besides, India has always been open to the idea of people moving to their country of “identity”. The option is available to Kashmiris who consider themselves Pakistani as well. They are free to migrate and identify themselves as Pakistani.
Similar option is available to the Sikhs of UK, they can form their own lil Khalistan within the UK and identify as whatever they choose to be.
India will not blink an eyelid!

In my experiance with Sikhs they feel more pride in being 'Sikh' then Indian. And Khalistan movement is evident in UK. Sikhs are whatever we might say "Indus people". They fall within the Indus basin. They are not Gangadeshi.

Actually you have never seen the Khalistan map. I have personally been to quite a few of Khalistan meetings and rallies which happen around Vaisakhi here in Canada. Trust me, their claims are something you will not like if you are Pakistani.

They basically want west to accept that '47 partition was a flaw and it should be redone with acceptance of Sikhs as the third nation in two nation theory. They further support it by claiming persecution Sikhs have faced in India and Pakistan -- actually entire subcontinent. This is the reason I believe it is a cause which will never come through.

Sure ask all 83000 of those Sikhs to come claim it. But before that, let’s start with the UK giving them their own box of identity before they set their sights on a nation state.

khalistan already exists. khalistan now also has a large Somalian community too. It's called Southall in West London.

Pakistan is Muslim land, punjab is close to 100% Muslim, we Partitioned from india never to return

indian Punjab is as close to a sikh homeland as the sikhs can hope for


jinnah offered them a independent sikh homeland in east punjab in 1947 which thry rejected only to be humiliated in 1984, now Sikhs are landless gypsies

its up to sukhs to grow some balls and fight for a homeland and avenge the humiliation of the Sikhs in 1984
