Well do as I do...Lets go to a Pakistani restaurant and then I take them to something called Lahore...and then explain it to them!You are being overoptimistic and somewhat miss the point in your assessment. Unless it categorically states Lahore or Karachi etc, it is always assumed to be Indian and English natives simply refer to our restaurants as "Indian". They even frequently call the Lahore/Karachi ones "Indian"!!! This is a longstanding error of our own. We have failed totally to market our culture, our cuisine.
Heck if I take a random cousin to an Irish bar/ pub I cant expect them to know about it until and unless one who lives/ understands or is there tells them!
So be Pakistan's brand ambassador!
Maybe they just do have indian food...After all them indians dont even know what is North Indian food and sell Pakistani food under North Indian category!Just to test my contention I googled 'Pakistan restaurents', Totonto, Canada to see how things are in North America. Guess what? They are about same as UK. If they are called 'Pakistani', inevitably most will have suffix/prefix of 'Indian'.
The spices are diff - very slightly! I have cooked with a Gujarti colleague from India...Apart from her habit of throwing the whole spice thali in....I dont see much differences except they use SOME spices in excess and SOME they dont really put them in the order "I" do...
I am not even sure what is Indian food...North Indian tastes completely diff from South! Apart from the Martabak and dosa from South India I havent really tasted much of South food...
