The French president, Nicolas Sarkozy, has reignited his cross-Channel war of words by accusing the UK of "having no industry left" during a primetime broadcast on national television.

Sarkozy, biding for re-election this spring, but trailing in the polls behind the socialist challenger François Hollande, was outlining his plans for raising VAT on Sunday night when a journalist pointed out that a similar move in the UK had seen a rise in inflation and had set back the economy.

The hundred years war....Round 2....FIGHT.

I was watching it. this article is really a big lie: there is no accusation at all.
He was speaking the disaster for France it would be if France didn't care about its industry: he said France should see the good exemple of Germany for this and the choice of England to make another choice than industry (he didn't say finance but this is obvious). he was just speaking about a choice for future of France.

English newspapers are so anti French.

And they are all Anti Islam. Do we care.

actually these 2 countries compete against each other, sort of like challenges each other to make each other better. At the end of the day they are allies and their interests are almost the same. People in England like to banter about the French and in vise versa in France.

What he says is already known to brits.
I am sure he was pointing to "manufacturing" which germany has a lot , french some and brit none.
This is known to brit politicians that massive finance industry is a risk.

Indeed, the UK's manufacturing industry is not what it used to be in the good old days :D

UK still can manufacture the top quality jet engine, while France's jet engine sucks, by far the weakest out of the five permanent members in the UNSC.

dont know about UK industry but this is a factory every engineer will wish to work in it
