An unconfirmed report shows Britain has secretly sent troops to the Persian Gulf to help US forces in the region to counter an alleged threat from Iran.

The Sunday Express said that British special forces had joined US strike group in the Persian Gulf as part of a top secret mission to allegedly protect merchant ships against possible threats that the Washington and its allies insist are coming from Iran.

The report said special boat service (SBS) forces were now with the UK registered oil tankers transiting through the Strait of Hormuz to the south of the Persian Gulf waters.

It said the SBS has been tasked to monitor Iranian military activity around the island of Qeshm, where Iran normally stations its naval gunboats.

The report added that Royal Navy Merlin helicopters which are not allowed to fly above the Strait of Hormuz will airlift the SBS forces once they enter the Gulf of Oman.

The report comes amid heightened tensions between Iran and the United States in the Persian Gulf region, where Washington has sent an aircraft carrier and B-52 long-range bombers in a show of force against Iran.

The tensions intensified after Iran announced earlier this month that it will suspend parts of its commitments under an international nuclear agreement which has suffered as a result of US withdrawal last year.

Britain has publicly refrained from taking side in the conflict although authorities in London have on several occasions endorsed Washington’s anti-Iran rhetoric.

PressTV-IRGC chief: Iran not after war, but not afraid of one either
The chief commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps says enemies do not have the will to wage war and are afraid of fighting.

British foreign minister Jeremy hunt said earlier this week that his country “shared the same assessment of the heightened threat posed by Iran.”

The deployment of US special forces to the Persian Gulf comes following a series of attacks on oil tankers off the coast of United Arab Emirates.

Iran has warned that such sabotage operation may be part of a general ploy to target Iran amid the increasing regional tensions.

Several senior American politicians have warned that Iran hawks in Trump's team are cooking up intelligence in order to convince Trump that Iran is indeed a threat, putting Washington on the same path that lead to the ill-fated invasion of Iraq back in 2003.

Iranian fools rather than partnering with Pakistan partnered with India, what fools. Now let's see what India does for them other than stabbing them in the back and helping their enemies.
Iran should as a matter of priority kick out the Indians until the hostilities subside.

Like if Pakistan would defy sanctions and stand with Iran

what is this nonsense we keep hearing? Iran has consistently maintained good relations with both sides, and even been slighlty pro pakisting before. assistern Pakistan in its war with india by providing safe/free fueling site for their planes (something india could easily see as an act of war)

in return Pakistan supported saddam Hussein in the IRan Iraq war, is BFFs with Irans worse enemies (Saudis and the americans) and either allows, or turns a blind eye to Saudi supported wahabi terrorists using Pakistani territory to take pot shots at Iranian troops.

Id say Iran has been a far better neighbour to Pakistan then Pakistan has been to Iran. Iran is also the only neighbouring country that doesn't have territorial claims on Pakistan even though Pakistan is a country that's not even 100 years old and is occupying balochi territory that was Iranian for a long time, and stolen by the british.

Friendship is shown by deeds and not words. You played against us in Afghanistan, you played a game with India against Pakistan resulting in your Chahabar partnership. You could have done favourable deals with Pakistan on oil and gas when we were in an economically dire condition. Instead, like Saddam, you sat on your oil pompously in a state of delusion and now be ready to pay the price. You sided with the US in Iraq and look where it has got you, in the gun sights of Uncle Sam.You radicalised the Shias in the region and stirred up a hornet's and dismissed a fact that they are a minority waiting to be crushed. For your delusional games you divided the Muslims in the region and polarised them against you and now you are sacrificing the Shias minorities in the region to Israel's delight.

if u.s and allies capture iran oil and gas resources it will be destructive to russian economy as europe will stop buying gas and oil from russia and rely on iran oil and gas which will come under control of u.s and allies and as a result russia will lose huge revenues earned from europe

. . .
Is there any state of alertness in Iran ? ... are you guys mentally ready if war does happen ?
Yes, and not just now.. but everyday! in the past 40 years. Many will fight US to death. We're not scared at all. Nationalist and Jihadist motivated Iranians will confront them. We go on hunting trip and will come back home with death americans.
