China on Thursday for the first time made public the video footage of one of its home-made drones Wing Loong's live fire missile test.In the live-fire missile test conducted in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in late July, Wing Loong, a typical made-in-China military drone, fired eight kinds of weapons at intended targets.

Li Yidong, deputy chief engineer of Wing Loong, Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) Chengdu Engine (Group) Co., Ltd., said the test would increase Wing Loong's flexibility in carrying out tasks.

"Drones that can both reconnoiter and attack have to function like this. It is unknown what kinds of targets are on the ground. You can not use just one or two types of missiles to deal with all targets with so many types of targets. Therefore for different targets we have different weapons," said Li.

Li Yongguang, chief engineer of Wing Loong, emphasized the significance of the development of drones.

"Drone is actually a big system consisted of base stations and missiles. Its progress will greatly boost the development of military industry," said Li Yongguang, chief engineer of Wing Loong, AVIC Chengdu Engine (Group) Co., Ltd..

China has been delivering Wing Loong drones to users in batches since last year.
