UAE Offers Mirage Fighters to Iraq

.
What about maintenance work along the way? Will that be done in Iraq or will the US provide logistic support at all times? Also how many Iraqi pilots are ongoing training in the US and for how long? You have an idea? If all of those 36 F-16's are due to arrive before the end of 2015 then they will be back before this happens? Or will more pilots be trained in the US along the way as the orders rise and thus need for more pilots?

Maintenance is in Al Asad air base by both Iraqi and experienced American crews ( supervising and for the complex tasks ) but that air base is often struck with mortars making it unsafe. Recently an article stated how many were training but forgot where I got it from, no idea anymore. Some pilots can already fly but with the coalition providing air support there's no rush.

They are being offered to Iraq free of charge, like the 300 vehicles Kuwait supplied to Iraq free of charge. Yet people here keep saying "Junk", they are the most advanced Mirages in the world, better than the ones the french are flying even. Or is it dirty Gulf Arab stuff, yuck.

I know the M2000-9 is a good aircraft today. The only thing is that aircraft will need a lot of costly maintenance as they get a few decades old. F-16's in western Europe ( Netherlands, Belgium etc. ) have this problem now even after a mid life update that's why it wouldn't be wise to buy only 10 here and there different platforms and sit with maintenance issues losing millions to outsource it to France for example which likes to put high prices on that stuff.

Well eventually the Iraqi Air Force will have to conduct training at home and employ more new pilots as the needs will just grow for each year regardless of Daesh being there or not.

So they were offered for free? What's with the "bitching" then? That's quite a nice gesture from an Arab country to another Arab country to say the least. Similar to Kuwait's gesture.

No idea how he knows they're for free, doesn't say that in the article. I think they should buy all 68 Mirages from the UAE. UAE isn't in a hurry for weaponry, they can buy modern aircraft instead which take time to build and we'll have precision strike capability. Old Su-25's have proven useful so the more modern Mirages will be much better.

The Arabic source I read states that it is a Gift. GCC are being extra generous to Iraqi despite Iraq being untrustworthy at the moment, maybe to show goodwill to the Iraqi people, but the Iraqi government has been nothing but an Iranian colony recently, if Iraq can prove to be a reliable ally, and not stab us in the back again. Then we should start the help train and get it going. Many news articles in Arabic named it "Congratulations to the Iranian Air Force the new Fighters", and quite honestly, I can't blame them.

It's called external influence, democracy in the middle east opens doors for foreign influence considering political parties from different ideologies establish themselves. You can see this in Iraq and in Lebanon.

Iraq's priority is internal, not countering Iran to satisfy you once again. The donkey Bandar bin Sultan is the one that went full retard in Syria with his failed mastermind causing all this.

Iraq needs light weight with presicion delivery of smart ammunition or bomb and PAF should help Iraq with Jf-17 and let them decide for themshelves about acquiring in the future .
Paf can change the tied in favour of iraq in just few months and of course iraq will pay for the service.

UAE is selling only 43 out of it's 62 Mirage 2000-9s. If Iraq gets up to 10 of them, then the rest (roughly two squadrons) will be sold to Egypt or Pakistan ..

.
I hope we do every thing to get hands on these babies....M 2000-9 in hands of PAF's pilots....They will be damn lethal and quite a headache for our neighbour...

If you ask Pakistani member they will say they would love mirage 2000 for their Navy if they can get a hand on it from UAE, but as they are not having currently so for them it is a junk, but as soon as it is supplied to them from any country, mirage 2000 will be on par with F-16. Typical troll from them, can't expect anything more from them.:hitwall::hitwall::hitwall:
