Even if and only if China decide to invade Vietnam in the near future, do you think the Yankees dare to intervene, they will send troops to Vietnam to fight Chinese army for you Viets ? Laughable. The Yankees learned their lesson hard from PLA and China in the Korean war long ago when the Yankee army got defeated by the PLA. That's why the Yankee soldiers dared not cross the 17 th parallel to fight Vietnamese army when China told Yankees not to cross the line otherwise China would send troops to fight the Yankee army in Vietnam. Not to say, these days China has the capability to totally destroy the USA mainland itself with nuclear weapons. Yankees would be totally crazy or out of their minds to intervene militarily on any possible war beteeen China and Vietnam. The best strategy for Vietnam is to be a good neighbour that gets well with the region including China.

No. Vietnam will not join in NATO or similar organization whatsoever. Unlike Ukrainians, Vietnamese still have vivid memory how tragic they were when they joined in anti-China military alliance.
