U.S. says in final review to designate Haqqani network as terrorist group

U.S. State Secretary Hillary Clinton said on Wednesday that Washington is in final review on decision to designate the Haqqani network as a terrorist organization.

"We're in the final, formal review that has to be undertaken to make a government-wide decision to designate the network as a foreign terrorist organization," Clinton told reporters at a joint press conference with visiting Egyptian Foreign Minister Mohammed Kamel Amr.

She said the U.S. has already slapped sanctions on the key leaders of Haqqani network which was blamed for the recent attacks on U.S. embassy in Afghanistan.

"We're going to continue to struggle against terrorism, and in particular against those who have taken up safe havens inside Pakistan," said Clinton.

She vowed to continue to work with the Pakistani counterparts to try to "root them out" and "prevent them from attacking Pakistanis, Americans, Afghans, or anyone else."

Chairman of U.S. Joint Chief of Staff Mike Mullen last week publicly accused Pakistan of backing the Haqqani network and exporting violence to Afghanistan. Mullen's words prompted furious response from Pakistan who has been an important player on the U.S. war in Afghanistan, sending the already damaged U.S.-Pakistani relations to a new low.

This all sounds BLAA BLAA when you know what are actual intentions of Americans. Haqqanis do not operate as an organziation who have offices, recruitment offices, bank-accounts or set of policies which they follow and by banning them, the are going to give ZERO harm to them. So what is all this play for?

There is a rason behind this move. Core idea is to malign Pakistan and its cooperation on WAT, rather define it as a power acting against US interest. In my calculations, US might also conduct a small operation inside Pakistani territory in the name of Haqqanis, well knowing that Pakistan would retaliate and then in the list of "factors which defeated USA", Pakistan's name will be added. Now this will give Americans a poor reason to explain to their countrymen that why they lost and they actually lost because of betrayal of partners and not because Americans ran out of water in the balls.

what will be end lolz USA will be run from here and these terrorists will remain stay here .its better if USA save his a$$ and go early .they can't stay here forever lolz .every invader forget it always .

USA declare half world terrorists lolz each and every gov group person not agree with uncle sam he is terrorist hahahahahah soon world will declare USA him self terrorist

US wants to hold all balls in its basket unshared, their aim to side line Pakistan from Afghanistan affairs also supported by NA to rule ethnic majority of Afghanistan. Now at every cost but fear to get over cost consequences forced US to keep normal relations with Pakistan.

It won’t be easy to launch a large scale attack on Pakistan

Some people here always want that……..

Large scale attack on pakistan will be a big mistake.. there will be to much losses to Nato forces, rather Nato/US should maintain diplomatic stranglehold on Pakistani government and increase the frequency of Drone attacks 10 folds. Larger unilateral losses will force Pakistani establishment to comply. I am pretty sure Pakistan will not want to directly confront coalition forces and the all weather friend is no were in sight. it's time to increase the pressure and the backdrop is perfect.

India needs to ensure that it doesn't escalate any tension on its western border and let US/Nato do the damage...

Taliban won't mind it hundred times. Only gives them new and more vicious recruits.
