U.S. intel helped Ukraine protect air defenses, shoot down Russian plane carrying hundreds of troops

Fun fact: there's a range of altitude the Starlinks can cruise. Metal balls are much cheaper and easier to be produced and launched, too small to be tracked from ground and be avoided. Overtime, these space mines will work wonder.

China has demonstrated it could grab a satellite and drag it to the graveyard.

SpaceX launchs 50 satellites per launch.

Your theory doesnt take into consideration that Russia is a poor 3rd world country with extremly limited budget. In other words, SpaceX can drown russia in satelites. Its cheaper to build and send StarLink to orbit than Russias rockets could send plastic caps into space.

Since its LEO its cleared in short timespan.

Its russias general problem. Its plain and simple economicly extremly weak.

The problem is that these guys seems to believe that if an idea is hypothetically possible, it can be done in a few months. Most likely they never worked in R/D or manufacturing to know anything beyond their video games.

Yup and they ignore that russia is a poor country. They also ignore that orbital mechanics hold any debris cloud in same position of its orbit.

Yes and eventually, the lifespan and fuel of the satellite will be wasted.

A Satellite that is cheap as **** and can be replaced on day notice.

Dude Russia left the space business in the late 1970th. You talk like its a country that anyone would take serious. Not even China takes them serious.

Russia is nothing more than Chinas minime.

You forgot Russia is the largest commodity (oil, gas, mineral, agricultural) exporter. In the currency vs commodity war over Ukraine, commodity is overwhelming currency. Ruble has reached 2-year height vs. Euro. Funny Poland and Bulgaria accuse Russia blackmailing them with natural gas. Hello? I didn't know Europeans are that stupid. LOL.. Anyway, that's another story.

You also forgot China can out spend either Elon Musk or the US government (SpaceX is government supported in disguise). PLUS, many wealthy ME nations wouldn't mind contributing to the space cleaning effort led by China and Russia.

SpaceX has approval for 12,000 satellites but who issued the approval? FCC. FCC as well as NASA are US government agencies and have no authority over the earth and the international community. US government is a control freak and tries to militarize space uses with its DOD-funded SpaceX leading the way. The war in Ukraine exposed Starlink's military capabilities and links to the US government. Russia, China, and many countries are starting to feel the threat posed by SpaceX and even Tesla. i will not be surprised multiple nations will call for space cleanups in the next few years.

A video game played is way much better than a crime against humanity committed by some arrogant racists, don't you think? Know whom I'm talking about? That's right...

Your 'because I can I will violate' is a hypocrisy.

Ever heard of Mir space station ?

That works both ways amigo. Chinese satellites and space station can be taken out as well.

And just because of that, nobody will touch star link

Yup. Its a wonderful reef in the pacific ocean.

Americans don't realize Musk will ditch them for China in a heartbeat, without access to Chinese market Tesla will be irrelevant.

Compare his well mannered behavior and deference when it comes Chinese authorities to his petulant infantile antics against the US authorities...

Yes, it goes both ways. In times of war, that's the only way to go because that's the only way to reverse the militarization of the space. Both China and Russia have anti-satellite missiles but they are not cost effective against the mass of Starlink junks. Sending 10s of thousands these cleanup balls will be cheap and very cost effective because each smash will create hundreds of debris which will increase the probability of damaging more Starlink satellites.

You still dont get how orbits work. 😅👍

I have news for you. Those balls remain exactly in same spot of orbit they are set free. . Debris created...will not damage other star link satelites. You know why? Because it has same orbital speed. It basicly only endangers other satellites in other orbits.

Go learn some orbital mechanics. Star Links are all in same orbit. One splitters apart doesnt affect anything in this specific orbit. Debris would only affect other orbits when it crosses them .

Here is what the celebration parade for "Operation Z" will look like a few days from now:

They could be modified with certain propulsion that will fly around until they hit Starlink satellites. In large quantity, they might. Of course it's a proposal of method to de-militarize the space in the most cost effective way.

Maybe they have same speed. But may have opposite movement direction.
