I don’t suppose Russia give permission for such a modification but If Turkey promise to replace all data-link and main search & tracking radars of S400 with national solutions and make them compatible with original S-400 missiles, US may change this stupid claims to let our F35 fly to Turkey. Turkey has already been developing all needed infrastructure to develop national long range air and missile defense system caller Siper. Integration of Siper subsystems into S-400 may solve the problem but Russia would never approach to do such a modification. The deal done with Russia doesn’t contain such a remark as well.

I have to say, Turkeys decision making cycle in this is odd. The S400 is not worth losing the F35 over !!!!! Odd. Sometimes you need to bury your pride and make logical decisions and not those on pride or emotions.

Turkey can't defend itself with F-35s against Israel attack like it found out with the F-16s.

The US won't allow Turkish F-35s to lock onto Israeli warplanes so an air defence system like S-400 is needed to defend Turkey should the F-35s are prevented from locking onto Israeli targets.

As I said precariously its a laughable excuse as Russia can gather the data easily from Israel airplanes . as they didn't really need any S400 to protect their base in Syria . the presence of the system only meant one thing they want it only to gather data.

Turkey wanted to buy Patriots from the US one decade ago.
The senate didn't allow the sale.
After Syrian civil war NATO put patriots in Turkey in order to protect "NATO" assets.
Turkey felt threatened and asked for Patriots again for it's own protection.
The senate didn't allow the sale.
Turkey went for another system from 3rd parties.
Turkey and Russia began the negotiations alongside China, US.
Then the US wanted to sell Patriots again without the guarantee of senate approval.
Turkey and the US negotiated about the price tag, ToT and guarantee of sale.
They failed to agree on.
Turkey went for Russian system.
The US threatened with F-35 program.
Turkey answered with to use international rights of his loss.
Turkey purchased the S-400s.

The thing is, once you bow to this threat, always you will need to bow. Next time the US will ask you not to bomb PKK, not to fight with PYD, to do this or do that, it will go on like this OR ELSE no F-35s for Turkey.

S-400 is a great system indeed and No state has rights to threaten another one with sanctions cause of an official procurement strategy but It seems US under the rule of idiots will harm our bigger benefits in mid and long term. We have 12-13 billion $ workshare in F35 including engine maintenance center and Turkish government invested 1,2 billion $ for F35 as level 3 partner since 2001. Actually, Congress had approved to sell up to 13 battery Pac-3 for Turkey in 2009-2010 for T-LoRamids program, Later the project is delayed around 5-6 years cause of selecting Chinese system over Western equivalents and cancelled in 2015 but later, Turkey started negotiations with Russian federation for S400 system with a sharp decision under government to government project model and It is finalized.

I am correcting the misunderstandings and misinformations spreaded out by some politicians and some so called S400 experts showing up in live broadcasts in TV. The Chinese winner got the tender with 3,44 billion $, Whereas second bidder EuroSAM offered same amount Aster-30 battery (12battery) worth 4,4 billion$. Raytheon offered 4,6 billion $. In this tender, It is asked Russia to join into tender with S-400 and They requested 8,4 billion $ for same amount of battery (Turkey pays 2,5 billion $ for 4 battery S-400 without ToT at present. 12 battery costs around 7,5 billion$ with last bargain). DCSA approvals are taken with estimated figures, not certain so It is written an extreme figure but Official cost of offered batteries were 4,6 billion $. Beside, Turkey didn’t request ToT in T-Loramids and We didn’t take any for S-400 as well. The likely ToT issue will be on agenda If Turkey places a second order for S400.

1. Russian jets including Su-34 are not violating Israeli airspace. Russia should give it a try and see what happens.

2. Israeli jets are violating Syrian airspace to strike at Iranian targets from time-to-time, and Russian-origin defenses are clearly failing to do their job.
