If the aircraft is supposedly f-16 it will have 16 to 24 aircraft in a squadron but it can vary. I said that if it has a different type, the f-16 and rafale are both the same type(i.e fighter) aircraft's, if their was a different type like a transport aircraft e.g c130 then may have different numbers

We may probably go for 54 Block 52 and rest will be MLUed ones from other sources under use and may be if we opt for 72 Block 52 then we may be banking on 120 of these birds in our arsenal.

54-72 Blk 52, we currently have 18 blk 50/52 rest 36-54 would be difficult to get because blk 52 are the latest out there (if we exlude UAE's F-16) and those who posses would not be willing to sell in near future.

1) PAF does not only have F-16 we now have 50 JF-17s as well and more to come in future.
2) As soon as PAF learned about Rafale, started to discuss J-10B with China which we eventually did not buy because India did not signed Rafale.
3) Yes IAF has greater numbers but it does not have all the aircraft in flying condition, according to one of the sources MKI has only 50% serviceability i.e half are present to fly and rest are in maintenance. Russian aircrafts are a mintainance nightmare.
4) India cannot use all its force against Pakistan it has to keep an eye on dragon as well.

The answer is jf17 with upgraded avionics i.e block 3 which will bring it on par and a little ahead of the f16,Mirage 2k-5, Mig-29 (because of AESA and other avionics). But they will be needed in large numbers 150 have already been ordered and will be taken to 250 but should be taken to 300+.

jaguar and Mig-27 and Bison. are going to be retired by the time rafale comes online and to counter them presently be have f-7pg's and mirages

Eurofighter will be on offer if india goes foe rafael. But not a preferable solution ..ideally if jf17 block 3 can hold ground till j31 is available...but if thats far away than j10b should be inducted..

Jf-17 is lightweight and is only to replace mirage, F-7.. we need medium weight jet with multirole capabilities

Well according to me for them our Mirages and F-7 would be more than enough.

Eurofighter will be on offer if india goes foe rafael.

I highly doubt that even if that happens its way too expensive for Pakistan.
