The U.S. Army prepares for receiving of the first M1A2 SEPv3 Abrams battle tanks brigade, according to Mackenzi Klemann from The Lima News.

According to media reports in recent weeks, the Joint Systems Manufacturing Center in Lima, Ohio is ramping up to deliver the service’s first full brigade of the latest variant of Abrams tanks to the U.S. Army.

“We’re in the throes of getting that together,” said Plant manager Hank Kenned pointing that the “first brigade is critical because we need to get (them) into the soldiers’ hands so they can get trained on it and everything else.”

The Joint Systems Manufacturing Center, which is government-owned but operated by defense giant General Dynamics, got a huge boost earlier this year when the U.S. Army said it would spend $714 million to upgrade the M1A1 Abrams, the main battle tank used by the country’s armed forces.

With the bases version of Abrams tank, the latest M1A2 SEPv3 is now being mass produced at the Joint Systems Manufacturing Center in Lima.

The newest version of the M1 Abrams tank is considered the most technologically advanced digital tank in the world with superior firepower, protection and mobility, Army’s officials said.

In a 2017 report, Maj. Gen. David Bassett, program executive officer for Ground Combat Systems said: “These vehicles are not just about assuring our allies, or deterring or coercing potential adversaries. They are about compelling our enemies and winning the multi-domain battle.”

The M1A2 SEPv3 will be equipped Trophy APS that eliminates enemy threats, such as rocket propelled grenades and anti-tank guided missiles.

The SEPv3 measures 9.7m-long, 3.7m-wide and 2.4m-high, and is manned by a crew of four, including a driver, a commander, a loader and a gunner.

M1A2 SEPv3 = M1A2C in short

"This version rectifies many of the space, weight and power issues identified during Operation Iraqi Freedom and will be the foundational variant for all future incremental upgrades. In addition to having improved survivability, the Abrams M1A2C can host any mature technology the Army deems operationally relevant. Improvements focus on increasing the electrical power margin, Vehicle Health Management Systems, integrated counter-improvised explosive device protection, a new Auxiliary Power Unit, embedded training and an ammunition data link.

It is the most reliable Abrams tank ever produced, will decrease the Army’s logistic burden, and leads the Army in enterprise-level connectivity to maintenance and supply systems.

The M1A2C is equipped Trophy APS that eliminates enemy threats, such as rocket propelled grenades and anti-tank guided missiles."

Are those the ones that Turkey also has? Didnt they do not so well in Syria for Turkey?

. .
Turkey has Leopard 2A4

Western tanks are pretty much identical in capabilities and the difference comes down to the crew.

The turkish Leo2 A4 that were destroyed in Syria were technical standart of 1985.... 34years old
...heck that was 4 years befor I went to Army were i drove the Leo2A4 in 1989...

The Leo2 A4 phase out started early 90´s in the Germany Army as the A5 was introdued and from 2000 no more Leo2 A4 in German Army... even the A5 is today phased out and the A6, A6M and A7 get upgrade to A7V.

Western tanks may appear nearly identical on paper....
as a package (including crew training) the Leo2 still owns the other...
Since 3 years the US Army runs the Strong European Tank Challenge on their training area in Germany...

Every year 1th, 2nd and 3rd were always Leo2 from different nations including their trained crews...
Only in 2017 a M1A2 Sep v2 managed to reach a 3th place finish.

Germany did not even bother to send Leo2 A7 to the US Army Strong European Tank Challenge ... The A7 is in service since 2014 and has some upgrades that could improve the perfromance during the one week challenge, like battle field management system, better thermal view for TC, onboard network, digital intercom system etc...

That against
M1A2 Sep v2
Leclerc
Challenger II
T-64BV
T-84 Oplot
M-84
C1 Ariete

That give the impression...

... Leo2 crew training doctrin is better than other
... Leo2 is more user friendly
