A small correction, not marathas, but marathi.

In the past the term maratha was used for all marathi people but today its only used for maratha clans. And yes there are many marathi muslims. Zakir Naik, the famous (but intolerant) preacher is a konkani / marathi muslims too.

Thanks for pointing that out, I have corrected my post to say marathi. Although I'm surprised why you wold consider Zakir Naik as intolerant. He is dogmatic yes, but he hasn't espoused hatred or vilified other religions.
