SRINAGAR: Two militants were believed to have been killed and as many security force personnel injured in an overnight encounter in Sopore town of Baramulla district of Kashmir.

The house, in which the militants were hiding, has been razed to ground and a search is on to locate the bodies of the two militants after the encounter ended this morning, police said today.

They said two security force personnel -- an Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police and a CRPF jawan -- were injured in the operation that was launched yesterday.

Security forces had cordoned off the Chanakhan locality in Sopore, 52 kms from here, last evening following information about presence of militants in the area.

The militants opened fire on the security forces, triggering the encounter.

Senior police officials had rushed to the spot as a top commander of Lashkar-e-Toiba was believed to be trapped in the house.

Umm, well,uh.......NO!! If you pay attention you will see that this is a common occurrence. And the IA has no plans to draw down forces for at least another 3 years so your theory is BS. The IA is a throughly proffesional force so what are you exactly implying?

@ thread I'll say it again:

sir I'm not sure, maybe it's your army yourself don't want such movement or maybe it could be PA that don't want it or it could be any third party ... why sudden unrest at this side of your country? if you think all of this just happening for no reason then you are not thinking critically.

Thank goodness none of our folks died. But the best part is; the men once again put the garbage back into the trash can. :D

Oh but this is not some other country our troops are staying.

We can station our troops in any state for as long as we like and just because you're crumbling it doesn't mean we will withdraw our troops and expect another 1999 infiltration.

Although the best part about current situation is, it destroyed your military intelligence completely so no more jehad. :D

But sir your hypothesis that this is a sudden flare up of violence is simply not true. Now I don't know whether this incident is in any way related to the incident in Srinagar a few days ago. By these sort of encounters where 1-3 militants are killed are very normal these days and happen at least once a quarter so the timing could be coincidental or this may have been an op triggered by the Srinagar attack. Either way I do not see anything to be troubled about or anything particularly out of he ordinary. When compared to what was going on even a few years ago Indian security forces deaths and Kashmiri deaths have plummeted so the valley is relatively much more peaceful today then it has been for decades.

Sudden unrest? Dude, this kind of thing keeps happening every single day. I have lost count about the number of times Ive heard such things on the news since childhood! There is no special reason why this happens. Its just the usual. For them they are fighting for freedom, for us we are trying to protect ours.

BTW Good job IA!!
