Take a good look at the map I posted earlier. Chinese rail lines can connect to the Iranian network at multiple points linking China to the Iranian port of Bandar Abbass and Chabahar. There is nothing strategic about Gwadar for the US to want to sabotage CPEC.

Besides the USN and USAF already have a large permanent presence in Oman. From these bases the US can control all shipping out of Iran and Pakistan in the event of hostilities.

China is not strong enough to stand up to USA militarily. But China can out-compete USA economically and in other ways.
Gwadar is strategic because it allows China to bypass the Malacca straits. China can outcompete USA by using "Soft Power" according to Parag Khanna.

There are other ways China can outmaneuver USA. This is not the late 1990's or the year 2000 where USA held all the cards or had a monopoly on certain industries.

Gwadar goes through China through the Karakoram Highway that was recently built.

China benefits 100%.
China gets access to warm seas, while Pakistan gets access to Chinese market.
So win-win for both nations.
