Two killed in Hyderabad police firing; curfew imposed - The Hindu
Trouble broke out near Sikh Chawni near Bahadurpura, adjacent to the Old City, after miscreants burnt a religious flag

Indefinite curfew was imposed in Rajendranagar police station area under Cyberabad Commissionerate in Hyderabad on Wednesday, following communal clashes and death of two persons in police firing.

Trouble broke out near Sikh Chawni near Bahadurpura, adjacent to the Old City, after miscreants burnt a religious flag in the early hours of Wednesday. Tension gripped the area as members of a community attacked two youths blaming them for the flag burning incident.

Attacks on houses followed while arson was reported in some parts of the area. Cyberabad Police Commissioner C.V. Anand and top officials of Hyderabad Police arrived at the spot and reviewed the situation. Contingents of armed police and paramilitary forces, which were brought to the city for election security, were rushed to the area.

The situation was tense but under control, police officials told The Hindu. Patrolling has been stepped up in other sensitive areas of the Old City as rumours about violence and group clashes spread.

Hyderabad police too deployed armed pickets at strategic points in the Old City to ensure clashes didn’t spread to other areas.

Two killed in police firing

Earlier, two people were killed when police opened fire to control mobs going on a rampage near Kishanbagh in the outskirts of the Old City.

At least 10 private vehicles were burnt in the violence while a video camera mounted vehicle of the Cyberabad Police was attacked even as police struggled to contain the clash which broke out around 5 a.m. Cyberabad Police Joint Commissioner Gangadhar was pelted with stones as he headed police teams moving in the area.

Tension escalated in other parts of Old City as unconfirmed reports said that a youngster was attacked. Even as he was shifted to hospital, heavy stone pelting from both communities continued in the area.

Despite presence of police forces, the two groups started attacking properties. After lobbing tear gas shells, police opened fire on a mob resulting in the death of two persons who are yet to be identified.

Already?modi is not PM yet:eek:

LOL you are not even aware of the event and is ready with your trolling.

The flag burnt was of Sikh community not of Muslims. Nothing to do with Modi .

Go away troll.

India is like a ripe land for communal Riots and that too before even Modi is selected,Don't know what's gonna happen after modi comes to power, because extremist Hindu Organizations will have the liberty to burn anyone or anyone they don't like with full Govt protection...

First this is not related to Hindu community. The people of Religion of Peace burnt a sikh flag and so there is tension.

Second in India Law and Order is state subject so State govt will deal with this. Hyderabad is under a "Secular" govt of Congress and the big leader is "secular" leader of "Religion of Peace" Akrabuddin Owaisi

Don't bring Hindus or Modi into this

Hmmm, yes there are some hindu muslim riots in areas where muslims have a strong presence. Also there was a muslim jain riot two days back where muslims tried to forcefully erect a wall around a well. Todays riot in Hyderabad started when muslims burned a sikh flag. This is actually a welcome departure in hyderabad when all riots normally happen friday afternoon directly after divine instruction. Then there have been riots lately where muslims have attacked buddha status, mahavira statues, even bodhi temple equivalent to mecca for Buddhists.

So there is a point to your hopeful assertion that riots are a problem. And the validity of that assertion shares the source with the hope that you have for more bloodshed - the eternal desire for ''peace''! cough cough!

I do not wish to point out the 100 times more violent shia sunni violence in the sub continent. Green on green is wink wink kosher you see!

3 killed in police firing as flag burning sparks communal clashes in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: Three persons were killed on Wednesday in police firing following communal clashes sparked by alleged burning of a religious flag by some persons in Kishanbagh area of the Old City.

Police clamped indefinite curfew under Rajendranagar police station limits after the clashes, which left 17 people, including ten police personnel, injured in heavy stone pelting.

Trouble broke out after members of a community noticed that a religious flag was burnt at a flag post in an open ground near a hillock, police said.

As the news spread, people assembled in large numbers and some youth entered the nearby locality of another community and allegedly started attacking their houses and vehicles. Some parts of the area also reported arson even as police intervened and dispersed them, they said.

After some time, hundreds of members belonging to both communities gathered and pelted one another with stones and some police personnel, who tried to stop them, sustained injuries, a senior police official said.
