SRINAGAR: Two Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorists including a Pakistan national were killed during an encounter at Hanjan village of Pulwama district of south Kashmir on Saturday.
Srinagar based defence spokesman Lt Col JS Brara said: "On specific intelligence of the presence of terrorists in Hanjan village of Pulwama district, a joint operation with police was launched by 44 Rashtriya Rifles late last night. The terrorists, who had taken refuge in a built up area were asked to surrender but they opened fire resulting in a fire fight."
He said two Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorists, Ashan Bhai from Pakistan and Javed Mangroo from Kashmir, were killed in the ensuing encounter. Ashan Bhai was a top terrorist active in the area for over ten years. Two AK-47 rifles were recovered from their possession, defence spokesperson Lt Col JS Brar said. The operation was in progress till reports last came in, the defence spokesman added.
However, police sources said, three militants were killed and an army Major was injured in the encounter.
