TV report: Israel silent as Iran hit by computer virus more violent than Stuxnet

Iranian infrastructure and strategic networks have come under attack in the last few days by a computer virus similar to Stuxnet but “more violent, more advanced and more sophisticated,” and Israeli officials are refusing to discuss what role, if any, they may have had in the operation, an Israeli TV report said Wednesday.

The report came hours after Israel said its Mossad intelligence agency had thwarted an Iranian murder plot in Denmark, and two days after Iran acknowledged that President Hassan Rouhani’s mobile phone had been bugged. It also follows a string of Israeli intelligence coups against Iran, including the extraction from Tehran in January by the Mossad of the contents of a vast archivedocumenting Iran’s nuclear weapons program, and the detailing by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the UN in September of other alleged Iranian nuclear and missile assets inside Iran, in Syria and in Lebanon.

“Remember Stuxnet, the virus that penetrated the computers of the Iranian nuclear industry?” the report on Israel’s Hadashot news asked. Iran “has admitted in the past few days that it is again facing a similar attack, from a more violent, more advanced and more sophisticated virus than before, that has hit infrastructure and strategic networks.”

The Iranians, the TV report went on, are “not admitting, of course, how much damage has been caused.”

On Sunday, Gholamreza Jalali, the head of Iran’s civil defense agency, said Tehran had neutralized a new version of Stuxnet, Reuters reported. “Recently we discovered a new generation of Stuxnet which consisted of several parts … and was trying to enter our systems,” Jalali said.

The Stuxnet virus was uncovered some eight years ago, and was widely reported to have been developed together by US and Israeli intelligence. It penetrated Iran’s rogue nuclear program, taking control and sabotaging parts of its enrichment processes by speeding up its centrifuges.

Netanyahu is adamant that the Iranian regime remains determined to attain a nuclear weapons arsenal, and has bitterly opposed the P5+1 powers’ 2015 deal with Iran. US President Donald Trump, with whom Netanyahu is closely allied, withdrew from the accord in May.

Referring to Stuxnet, Wednesday’s TV report noted that “in the past, the US and Israel have been alleged to have worked together on operations.” Trying to establish whether Israel had any role in the latest cyberattack, the TV report said: “We’ve tried to clarify here. They’re refusing to comment.”

The TV report noted that “behind the scenes lately, the Mossad,” under its director Yossi Cohen, has been “fighting a real shadow war.”

Without attributing responsibility to the Mossad, the report mentioned the tapping of Rouhani’s phone, noting that the Iranians “had to switch it for an encrypted model because they understand that someone has been listening to him for days and weeks.”

On Sunday, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei urged intensified efforts to counter enemy “infiltration,” Reuters said.

In a speech to officials in charge of cyber defense, Khamenei said: “In the face of the enemy’s complex practices, our civil defense should… confront infiltration through scientific, accurate, and up-to-date… action,” the report said, quoting Iranian state TV.

Earlier Wednesday, Israeli officials said the Mossad provided its Danish counterpart with information concerning an alleged plot by Tehran to assassinate three Iranian opposition figures living in the Scandinavian country. According to the officials, the Mossad gave Denmark information about a plot to kill three Iranians suspected of belonging to the anti-regime Arab Struggle Movement for the Liberation of Ahvaz.

The intelligence reportedly provided by the Mossad prompted the arrest of a Norwegian national of Iranian origin earlier this month. Denmark on Tuesday recalled its ambassador to Iran over the incident.

“What Iran hides, Israel will find,” Netanyahu declared in his September UN speech.

How this can happen if the facility not connected to the internet
This most be done manually

Wouldn't this action expose the whole region to nuke disaster?

Collection of lies!

1. The virus was neutralized even before being activated.

2. It wasn't Rouhani's phone, but Zarif's phone and unsecured communication with Rouhani during JCPOA negotiations, afterall Zarif is a child and you shouldn't expect him to leave his cellphone!

3. And about so called Iranian bomb plan in Sweden, only a moron would believe that Iranian forces create a handmade bomb, just to transfer it to another country!
although when we have bunch of p#ssies in our foreign ministry who don't even date to persecute Sweden for hosting Ahvazieh terrorist group, of course they will hit again.

overall it seems Zionists and their puppets are pretty much satisfied with their delusions!

The hearts of the Iranian people prefer elephant balls to Netanyahu you clown
Says the man who failed to challenge the mullahs' claim that Israel is stealing Iran's clouds. Yeah, your perception of reality must be better than mine, right?

Who has more support in the hearts of the Iranian people: Netanyahu or their ruling mullahs?

I'm sure there are a whole lot of people who disagree - even hate - the ruling lot in Iran. But Solomon I'm sure you are well aware of how powerful tribalism is and how it works.

Tribalism (nationalism) with the Iranians is much more stronger than with many others.

Maybe if Israel actually was able to find some common ground with the Palestinians for lasting peace, than they'd find a lot of people around the world may start to view it differently.

Unfortunately, until such a time, no matter how what else Israelis do, the Palestinian issue will always overshadow its image abroad.

'The hearts and minds' game cannot be won decisively until such a time.

If it happens than maybe the Iranians, and others, may have more support for the Israeli leadership than their own.

You persist in assuming that the mullahs speak for the minds and hearts of the Iranian people. Jews and Iranians are traditionally allies; only the current regime demands a reversal.

.
correct jews and Iranians were always allies/friendly historically speaking. in fact the last time an Iranian army managed to occupy the land, it was done with the active assistance of its jewish population. Iran has never been and will never be an enemy of the jewish people.

iran considers itself an enemy of the artificial implanted Zionist project.

there is a HUGE difference between the 2. and attempts at linking them has been a very succesfull propaganda ploy by the Zionists that iran has never bought

I actually don't claim to know exactly how much support the current regime enjoys there. Maybe there are a lot people in Iran who dislike their government and I also don't think it is impossible that a large number of people have no enmity towards the Jewish people.*

My point was that the feelings of people about Israel are not going to be of the sort that if open hostilities break out, there aren't going to be a lot many Iranians on the street in favour of Israel.

Those who may hold positive views about Israel are going to be much likely to be moved to action compared to those who will act to protect the current regime, let alone the 'Iranian Nation'.

---

*I will confess I personally have no enemity towards the Jewish people - I actually do consider them the closest to 'us' - even Christians - because of their monotheism and history.

I also don't hold anything against any ideology within the Jewish people (zionism) and I think it understandable that they wish for a separate homeland so that they don't suffer at the hands of others yet again.

I just want the Palestinians to not suffer. I support Palestine, and my opposition to Israel is incidental.

If tomorrow there was a reasonable peace treaty signed which was acceptable to all parties involved, I'd support it.

With the acknowledgment that Israel has been attacking Iranian installations in Syria that ship has already sailed. Are the crowds in Iranian streets shouting "Death to Israel" in response? Hardly. Instead, the demonstrations continue to be against the mullah regime.

Maybe you are correct. I was however, talking about actual war with stakes for the populations - not this chess game in someone else's backyard.

Maybe you are correct and the Iranians would still support Israel if it were to go and actually bomb a place in Iran - maybe killing a bunch of Iranians in the raid. I doubt that would be the case, but who knows.

Jews are friends with no Goyem..... They believe the Goyem should be robbed, enslaved and killed. Their "holley" books states that the goy are "something between man and beast". This is why everyone has always hated the juice....
