It's not just about communicating with the drone. Also consider the fuel capacity needed to ferry the payload to that distance and back. That does require a "wow". :)

In one of the TV interviews with Selcuk Bayraktar, he said if TB2 had SATCOM it could fly out to 3000km.

I guess with payload. If you have a UAV flying at 60 knots for 24 hours, it can fly for quite a distance .. Data-link is the limiting factor and TurkSat has limits as well unfortunately :-)

60 knots = 111 km/h.
11 km/h x 24 h = 2664 km.

A little short of 3000 km but yeah, I see your point. He may be correct in his claim. That's the ferry range though. The actual range would be half that as the drone has to fly forward and then back to its base. So it's about ~1130 km under best conditions.

Hmm, let's do Anka.

Cruise speed: 126 mph[36] (110 knots, 204 km/h)
Endurance: 24 hours with 200 kg useful payload[38]

110 knots = 204 km/h.
204 km/h x 24h = 4896 km.

Yep. That's assuming no fuel wasted for ascend/descent, no strong cross/headwind, no zigzagging to avoid terrain or threats. no loitering over an area to gather intel or drop bombs. Simply from point A to point B under very ideal conditions. If we're planning on returning back to home base we'd have to cut that in half, which is 2448 km. I'd also deduct about 30% due to "less than ideal" flying conditions and for loitering/circling time to perform the actual mission. So my best estimate would be around 1700 km.

Yep. Lets say between 1500-2000km incl variables.

That's a really good map, fits well with TurkSat Ku-band coverage too

But it's a tactical uav and it's perfrom good in that category , why trying to overload it ?

They should develope a MALE uav that would be more suitable for satcom

TB2 IS a MALE class uav. And they are not talking about overloading it, they are talking about utilizing it to the fullest extent.
