Erdogan is accompanied by his wife Emine and a high-level entourage including ministers, senior officials, and members of the Turkish business community, Radio Pakistan reported.

The Turkish president is expected to hold meetings with President Mamnoon Hussain and PM Nawaz during his visit.

The exchange of views between the leaders will cover a range of bilateral relations as well as regional and international issues.

He will also address a joint session of parliament on Thursday. The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf 'leadership' has decided to boycott Erdogan’s address saying the party will not attend a joint session held under a "controversial" prime minister facing charges of corruption.

This will be Erdogan's third address to a joint session of parliament in Pakistan, DawnNews reported.

The Turkish president is also expected to travel to Lahore, where Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will host a banquet in the honour of visiting dignity at the Shahi Fort.

ISLAMABAD: Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has arrived in Pakistan on a two-day visit, his first since an attempted military coup failed to oust him from power earlier this year.

Erdogan was accompanied by a high-level entourage – including Turkish ministers and senior officials, as well as a large business delegation – and will hold meetings with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and President Mamnoon Hussain on a host of bilateral, regional and international issues, a handout issued by Pakistan’s foreign ministry said.

The Turkish president is also scheduled to address a joint session of parliament – which the opposition Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has announced it won’t attend.

President Mamnoon will also hold a banquet in honour of President Erdogan and his entourage. The Turkish leader will travel to Lahore as well, where PM Nawaz will host a banquet in his honour at the Shahi Fort.

The foreign ministry handout said Pakistan and Turkey are bound by “an exemplary relationship characterised by warmth, cordiality and mutual trust”.

“There are embedded deep in history, common faith, cultural and linguistic affinities and a sense of common destiny. Frequent exchanges at the leadership and ministerial levels and growing cooperation in diverse fields are the hallmarks of the unique bonds between Pakistan and Turkey,” it said.

“Both sides are working to give powerful thrust to bilateral trade, investment and commercial cooperation as part of the efforts to build a robust economic partnership.”

It pointed out that Turkey has “steadfastly supported the people of Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, in their just struggle for the right to self-determination in accordance with the relevant UN resolutions.”

Welcome home, sir....We hope this visit of yours will boost our relationship to next level and will defy all challenges/conspiracies of enemies, which, they are doing against our brotherhood....
We sincerely wish good luck to you and your country and will stand by you in toughest hour....:smitten::cheers:

Do you know the reason for this visit?

If I am not wrong this would be the 8th visit of Turkish president to Pakistan. After visiting Pakistan he would be going directly I think, to Uzbekistan so my understanding is that counter terrorism would be top on agenda .

Other factors like economic cooperation in the field of agriculture, energy sectors etc etc may be discussed on the side lines of the meetings.

I personally feel there could be something on Afghan-Taliban talks :D just my personal opinion

Welcome Sir- I think the High level meeting might be focusing on Combating terrorism which both the countries are going through- Lets make Pakistan great again!!

Banquet at Shahi Fort, Impressive i must say...
On the other hand, Turkey is a important country in the region & after its failed Coup Attempt Erdogon has come out as a strong individual, yet again These relations are between 2 States & not 2 Individuals or 2 Families..

Lool watch out for brotoherly love ,Pakistanis might shoot erdogans plane off the sky while shooting turkies in night sky.
