Turkish PM Erdoğan to Putin: Take us to Shanghai

I don't think this is a good idea. Turkey might lose 60-70 US nuclear warheads that it currently posses and the US is already thinking of removing the warheads from Turkey. Also, Turkey might lose the license to manufacture F-16s and might not be able to acquire F-35 in the future.

.
The huge part of Turkish people dont want to join EU. The new World order will be based on Russia-Turkiye and Turkiye supporters- China - Usa. There is no place for Europe and European countries, they are sinking to the bottom rapidly.

US is not looking to remove the nukes in Turkey. NATO is currently upgrading the nukes so it can be used on the F-35 bombers. By 2016 this process will be finished.

Hi,

If turkey was that important to Europe---they would have them join in----. Turkey would be better off looking inwards---towards asia and Asian partners---

Turkiye's position is a very delicate one which the Turkish bureaucrats tried to maintain since it entered Nato. Having reliable support against the USSR, but also having leverage to get some demands from its Nato allies. Speculating can be fun about this kind of stuff, but coming to the real deal its possibly very convoluted than whats presented on the surface of all these diplomatic relationships

It would be an understatement that Turkiye has the hardest time dealing with diplomatic balance.

That's where I am in disagreement with the EU. Turkey literally is an irreplaceable and strategically important state. The economic, military and cultural (yes Turkey is as much part of Europe as it is in Asia ).

I don't buy the typical retort from some Europeans who say Turks aren't Europeans. If that's thecase then what about Bulgaria? The southern half of Bulgaria is practically Turkey and people there are Turkish-Bulgarians. Yet they are EU citizens .

AFAIK Turkey is of greater strategic value to NATO and Europe than say Monte Negro, Serbia, Croatia, Cyprus, Malta, Latvia . Turkey's economy dwarfs many of these EU states, and she has abundant resources as well as a growth potential that positively effects her neighbors.

Hi,

That is a blunder that the european union will pay heavily over the period of time---. It is upto turkey to come to a realization of being a nobody in the European union or to be the lead dog in the Asian / middle eastern consortium.

That is precisely the reason why Turkey wasn't allowed to join EU.
EU has very little geopolitical weight as it is since it barely manages to reach a meaningful consensus on any issue.

If you add another strong center of power into the cauldron, with differing interests, you will end up with a huge giant whose left hand is constantly trying to undermine the right.

The non acceptance into the EU has more to do with power, forget the religion or culture bs.
The EU is ruled by Germany and France, they dictate and the rest does and thats why GB wants Turkiye in so that they form a block that has more power to rule the EU.
They dont want to lose Turkiye to the ''East'',so they open a chapter every now and then to keep Turkiye close.
The startegic value(ME,energy) is another important aspect to keep Turkiye close.
Turkiye should stay as it is,business with all sides without losing the current partnerships,be it military or economic.
What my idiotic president is doing is just another Bluff,he cant fool anyone but keeps on trying.
