In order to implement any possible peace deal with Russia UK's Prime Minister Keir Starmer declared his willingness to send British troops to Ukraine as part of a peacekeeping mission. In order to stop additional aggression from Russian President Vladimir Putin Starmer concentrated on ensuring enduring peace in Ukraine. He acknowledged the responsibility that comes with such a decision and stated his willingness to help ensure Ukraine's security by possibly placing British troops on the ground.

Ahead of a summit with European leaders in Paris to discuss worries regarding US attempts to stop violence in Ukraine Starmer made declaration. Meeting was called after it became clear that European leaders had not been invited to early peace talks between US & Russia. Starmer also indicated that he would be meeting with US President Donald Trump soon and emphasized the "unique role" of UK in ensuring close cooperation between Europe and United States.

Starmer pledge to possibly send soldiers to Ukraine was presented as a way to ensure European security and thwart additional Russian aggression. He cautioned that the settlement of conflict should not only serve as a temporary reprieve before Putin launches another possible assault. Other partners especially Germany are under pressure from Starmer position to openly back the notion of a European peacekeeping mission in Ukraine. Leaders from a number of European nations, together with important representatives from the European Union and NATO will attend the emergency summit in Paris to discuss the situation in Ukraine and more general European security issues. Ukraine itself but has not received an invitation to the first round of US-Russian peace negotiations in Saudi Arabia.
