Turkish Peace Operations in Syria (Operation Olive Branch) Updates & Discussions

You have millions of refugees. Find some to fight and hold captured cities/villages. They just need weapons and some training.

I'll put a 1 kuruş bet that over half of those refugees have relatives (fathers, sons, husbands, brothers...) fighting in Syria, and are anti-Turkish army (DAESH, PKK, PYD....whatever name spouts out next).. So nope they won't fight, they'll move on like locusts if that time comes.

Will this whole thing expand to clear out the whole of North Syria, or will it stop the PYD / YPJ (et all derivatives..).. or will it lead to the declaration of a war against Syria, Iraq.. is something that remains to be seen... at the moment to me it seems a useless exercise, because the moment the Turkish army retreats, the PYD will 'unofficially' seize the whole area, whilst the EU and US deny the whole thing... if it doesn't retreat, now that would be interesting wouldn't it.

It really shouldn't be forced. They should want to fight for their country.
They shouldn't even be running away in the first place.yes?

I'd force exile anyone who doesn't like it in Turkey, or being a Turk, or is categorically opposed to be assimilated into the Turkish society. (Bit Hitler-ish but, unfortunately when every day there is news of some place blowing up, there needs to be drastic measures taken). As for sending Syrians back, well it is a bit harsh, but at least the able-bodied men should fight for their country, and not expect others to do it for them, only to return when things have settled down. The rest shouldn't be able to wander streets in Turkish cities as if they own the darn place, they should be in camps as they are in other countries. There are Turkish citizens with less rights to work, access to medicine than refugees in Turkey which makes me extremely angry.

Their country is being destroyed from within. Its understandable they lack the motivation and reason to fight their own compatriots. For you to force them to fight their own people is something that is beyond brutal. Most of these people will probably return to Syria anyway, let them wait out the storm in Turkey. I preferably dont want anyone to die.

Well it does sound extreme, but do you want to tally the total amount of refugees Turkey has received over the years from people running away from their countries?

With the millions of Syrians we have in Turkey, they cannot all be too old and too young. surely!! Just gather as many able-bodied men to fight for their own homelands. Women and children can stay, no issues with that, the old and sick too. That's about it.
I'd want the same done to Turks if we were in a same situation.
And there's nothing Hitler-ish in what you said. Those that oppose assimilation and those that refuse to integrate into Turkish society should be slinged back where they came from. I'd say the same for the Turk living in Holland or Germany too. But that is just me.

Maybe force is the wrong word to use. They should be encouraged to fight for their homelands. But, i fear some just do not care, and want to live their life abroad(Europe, West etc) get a free house and watch from TV their country burning in flames.

I doubt they will ever return, after getting Turkish citizenship.

Back to topic, why is it so hard to find recruits?

And the will of our government to arm them or the permission of their masters..
If they don't want to do it than nothing will happen.. Maybe Sometimes a conflict gives political benefits..

I would love that you know. While our soldiers die they swim in Turkey. They are like parasites.

How it is done today I would say they would be stupid to play and risk their life for stupid games.. Specially when you have government who don't like to care..

If we would give them proper weapons proper military training and social benefits and would search and make propaganda than you would find many ppl to join.. So you see many woulds and ifs and no action so they go swimming.

I am angry that they use the lifes of our soilders and ppl with good will for a political game.. I hope that they won't sell the operation for foreign interest

They hold some 120 km front now. Not enough troops for hermetic defense. But each ISIS counter attack is repelled after day or so. Air support is also very limited because of Assad/Russian threats.

Fsa lost this village back to Sdf. Every other day, Qubasin is changing hand. It is like ping-pong. Both Fsa and Sdf spread too thin and Isis standing its ground in all fronts (Al-bab, Raqqa and Mosul). I read last mosul attack was huge failure over thosand Iraqi soldier died just to get one neighborhood. End of Isis doesnt seem near..

Its very long front with little manpower right now. Still they made good advance in 3 months (more than 1,800 km2 of arable land). If u want fast results u need to send boots on the ground.
