What's new

Turkish Naval Programs

@Ir.Tab. @Bismarck The problem isn't with money or design, the problem is that the 40mm twin bofors gun isn't available with stealth exterior. Designing a low RCS exterior can be considered later.

Honestly I don't think aynone would go into so much trouble for a patrol boat.

Hey guys after the declaration of ÇAFRAD, I've found this. A ÇAFRAD integrated design;

some substantial info about our Meko s and multiple engagement capability

1. Not only Barbaros-B but also Barbaros-A also getting Mk41 VLS + SmartSMk2 combination. And unlike Grik meko new 3-D SmartS radar can provide "interrupted guidance" for ESSM, which means time share illumination of ESSM missile, each STIR radar can guide 4 ESSM missile. Which also means each Barbaros class can simultanously engage 8 target, while grik Hydra Class can guide ony 2 missile with any given time. So Barbaros Class has 4 times effective than coldwar era tech Hydra Class.

2. Turkish MEKO Class equipped with Harpoon Block-II missile, which can attack totally complex scenerious, is much more superior than Grik Harpoon Block-1C. In short Turkish MEKO is better than Hydra on ASuW

3. Turkish MEKO can carry latest S-70 Seahawk, which is techinally better than, grik seahawk; and Turkish frigate can fire Mk54 torpedos, in short Turkish MEKO ASW capability musch superior than Grik Hydra Class

4. Turkish MEKO Class, has military SATCOM capability, HF over IP communication system, Link16 and Link11 CAVLIS; upgraded ASELSAN GPS/INS suite, Warship-AIS which is indigneous, etc.. So Turkish MEKO has better communication-identification suite.

4. And we have complete modernization for MEKA200 TrackI

.Upgrade of SeaZenith, with ASELSAN optics, and radar digitaliziation (which is done)
.Upgraded communication navigation suite.

. Most importantly new ASELSAN WARSHIP EW SYSTEM that includes:
*Active Phased Array Jammer (2 jammers, with 2 transmitter array)
*Expandble Jammer and launcher system
*MKE 130mm chaff-flare launchers
*New ESM system
*Laser Warning Device, that is used in Milgem
*IRST that is showed in IDEF-11
*Floating decoy
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

First if you have sufficent timely presice computer system (time share for spesific duties) and make complex wave form to transmitters, you can midcourse guide ESSM/SM-2 Missile, while you would need Mk99 FCS for illumination. This case is AEIGS!

Second, if your radar proccessing system is not that "smart" you can do some other things. If you have good CMS system like GENESIS that control 3D and FCS radars you can do multiple engagement with out need of "mid-course links"

In this case, you detect-track and find engagement envelope for multiple target; than you can fire ESSM missile for each target with intertial guidance only, missile accelarte to direction, than you can switch missile terminal illumination one-by one controlled by GENESIS; but this has limitation comparing to AEIGS.

ICWI is another thing, I used on purpose but it is not the thing that are used in APAR radar, where radar itself send pencil beams both for midcourse and terminal homing, on interrupted time share. This is the spesific for that Radar, also used in Austaralian OHP modernization.

Our MEKO's multiple engagement is different, let say it can fire 2 missile to one target, if the first missile is failed, than STIR can guide other missile which is on the way.

So, multiple engagement is related with "system" rather than radar if the radars are not AESA; so you cannot find a document related to Smart-S Mk2 radars with multiple engagement. Similarly you cannot find a document that states SPY-1 Radar can engage multiple target, so it cant, but as a system AEIGS can.

Navantia offering F-100 frigate design to Turkey

The Spanish Navy's F-100 class frigate SPS Blas de Lezo will call at Istanbul on 25-27 July, a move seen as part of efforts to help potentially sell the design to Turkey for its TF-2000 air defence frigate requirement.

Navantia is teaming with the US Navy and Lockheed Martin, which supplies the ship's Aegis combat system, to propose the improved F-100 Flight 2 design to meet Turkey's requirement for four anti-air warfare frigates.

With the TF-2000 feasibility study long complete, a design phase or tender could be launched by the end of the year.

The package proposed by Navantia includes Lockheed Martin's SPY-1D(V) 3D multi-function radar system and full technology transfer for local production of the ships.

Missiles and rockets with range beyond 300km violate some international treaties. for example Russia reduced the range of SS26 stone (Iskander) missiles in export versions. SM3 has a range of 500km based on wiki. US could not export it.

That's not entirely true. They COULD use that as an excuse not to sell it but most of the range limitations are self imposed and check this article out.

SM3 is a defensive missile to intercept other missiles not like tomahawk missile.

That is a take on the Italian Fincantieri design F-3000 from the 1980s

nice one. They seem similar. But...awg RMK had inspired from Ada-class corvette (milgem) to create TF-2000 :).

My point again,Milgem stealth design proven concept(2300tns).
Enlarge it to 6000/7000tns,put all the AAW systems on it and be done.
Why isnt that possible, why a new design?
What needs to be different?
CABATLI,can you give me a clear answer.ty

What officials call TF-2000 design as a new one,is actually customised version of current naval design ability and experience (Milgem) in accordance with the described mission profile (AAW). The same engineers who designed Milgem, will design/designing TF-2000 as well so It will be cretain that Both Milgem and TF-2000 will have lots of similarities on appearance and inside plans as well. What makes two vessel different would be the new missile system cabins on upper decks, new and enlarged stores, enlarged displacement and beam lengths...etc They won't be one by one similar but I think Everybody will see something from Milgem when they looked at TF-2000 in near future...

BTW, RMK didn't design anything regarding Milgem or TF-2000. Milgem is designed by ARMERKOM engineers along wth participation of ITU professors. What RMK will do is to produce Milgem-S (6 Milgem) within designated time and budget...

TF-2000 Feasibility Studies Has been Completed.

After The Feasibility Study Evaluated, Building Up A Project Model Will Be Started.

Agree. Still, I'm struck by the design similarity with the (never built) Italian design.

Yeah. I can't give a clear shot about the design but she has very open similarities in armament, sensors, systems when compared to these two. All three have nearly the same size of displacement...etc.

Ps. MrTopal yeah it's not but it'll be very similar to it as it's base model is ada-class corvette.
