Turkish Land Vehicle Programs

Why not Otokar?
Wasn't the guy that bought BMC in the AKP-clique?

From the article ~ Sancak is known to be a close friend of Turkey’s prime minister, Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The government approved the sale May 8. Sancak was the only bidder for the company.
..

“Sancak must have a good reason to roll up sleeves in a market totally unfamiliar to him. It would not be surprising if some of the government contracts the other players thought would be naturally theirs went to BMC in the future,” one armored vehicles consultant said.

Because Ali Koç showed support to gezi protests, because politics.

Well, it would be very unfair if they give the job to their friends instead the developer himself.

BMC is bankrupt, they have now an investor but still you cant trust an importan project like Altay to such a company, and MKEK, well, no comment.

Not really, Otokar's contract was to only develop the tank. I hope the subsequent tender to mass produce the tanks will be fair, but I doubt it will be. :undecided:

Also MKE is doing great with producing Firtina Howitzers, someone mentioned their welding accuracy to be beyond 90%.

How come BMC went bankrupt? I thought they had orders for the army and also for Tunisia, with the Kirpi.

Production are done by First Army Maintenance, excluding gun but MKE is just responsible of advertising/exporting complete product abroad.

BTW, Almost all parts, gears, hydrolic subsystems, electric, electronic, mechanic(lighter, simplier) and machinary subsystems, cables, servo motors along with ready to fire mode with one button, automatic gun direction mechanizm similar like Firtina howitzers, auxiliary fire control unit, battery system which is going to feed T-155 panter howitzers are either mounted as new capability or re-designed by Aselsan. Hydrolic and oil leakages are resolved. New locking mechanizm designs on body and barrel system are applied which will provide more stable performance for more precision firing capability on targets. Bosh is working as sub-partner of Aselsan to provide some subsystems required.

Prototype Panter Block-2 tested on field by Aselsan/MKEK engineers in 2013. At 40th fire in Konya, One of new gear has been broken during strong recoil so Aselsan re-modelled/designed all gears and applied strengthen activities over them to fix the problem. New trials will commence in this year...
