Nah.. they got the f-5 clones saqeh etc.. nor can they buy weapons cuz of the sanctions...

The saeqah failed didnt it? Produced like 5. The twin engined f-5 that was supposedly an F-18 rival according to a general. They reused an old airframe. These airframes i bet have way more life in them than the ones they fly.

Those are alot of airplanes that are not in our inventory. We need replacements fast. F-35 program is moving slow and Tf-X will take forever. Our air force has gotten much smaller over the past years.
But also the need for jets to perform anti-insurgent role come to an end with the UAV era and mass production of T-129s.In fact when inducted Anka-TP with its 1 ton payload capability will be the main platform engages anti-insurgent duties even newly build T-129s will be unimportant.UAVs keeps getting only better therefore era of using atack jets and helis for ground atack role fastly coming to an end.

I disagree, the same has been said about tanks but those are still relevant to this day.
It's one thing to do a COIN operation, it's another to fight against an equal enemy.

You know i was talking about COIN(anti insurgent thing) operations only in first place at max all air-to-ground role(bombardment) i didn't say anything like all aircrafts will be unmanned.

Just making it searchable, don't mind me.. We can expect this capability (bold text) to be on the to-do list for T129B.

Turkish Laser Designator Bound For F-4 And F-16

ISTANBUL -- Turkish defense electronics manufacturer Aselsan is awaiting a production contract for its
new targeting pod, which will replace the Turkish air force's (THK) Lantirn designator pods.
The Aselpod has been under development since 2007 and is slated to be fitted to the THK's fleet of McDonnell
Douglas F-4E Phantoms upgraded to Terminator 2020 standard as well as to the country's General Dynamics
F-16 fleet. Trials have been flown on a CN235 testbed, and captive-carry trials are being conducted on
the F-4E and the F-16 at Eskisehir, with further trials slated for later this year.
"The Turkish air force wanted a new, locally produced targeting pod to replace the Lantirn but that
was comparable to the Sniper pod," says Halidun Fildis, Aselpod program manager at Aselsan. One of the
key criteria for the pod's development was the ability to designate weapons from above 5,000 ft., an
issue that THK crews have struggled with when using Lantirn.
According to Fildis, Aselpod also offers improved infrared performance over the pod it replaces as well
as a greater number of field-of-view selections.
The company has built five pods which are being used for trials, but it anticipates a production contract
from the Turkish government by early 2014 or earlier. There are plans to market the system for export,
as well. Fildis says integration of the pod onto the F-16 can be carried out through Turkish Aerospace
Industries and the THK. South Korea was interested, but the pod won't be available in time to meet its
air force's needs.
Fildis said that work to develop another version of the pod is under way. Enhancements would include
a downlink to allow ground troops to receive real-time imagery from the pod in a similar way to the remotely
operated video-enhanced-receiver technology used by forward air controllers in Afghanistan.

AselPOD Targeting Pod Integration on F-4E 2020 and F-16C/Ds
AselPOD incorporates a high-resolution, mid-wave 3rd Generation (3–5
micron) FLIR (with 640x512 pixels detector), a day-light camera (CCD-TV),
a Laser Designator, a Laser Range Finder, a Laser Spot Tracker for tracking
targets and for directing LGBs to the target, a Laser Marker Unit for
joint operations and an Inertial Measuring Unit to provide precise target
coordination and orientation data. AselPOD will enable pilots to engage
their targets even when partly obscured by cloud or countermeasures.
The 220kg AselPOD is 240cm in length and 43cm in diameter.

Aselsan, the largest defence electronics company in Turkey, has already
completed the prototype production of its new generation targeting pod,
dubbed AselPOD, and currently performs studies to integrate the AselPOD
onto F-16C/Ds.
In late 2010, the company has started its integration works on TuAF’s
F-4E 2020 aircraft in cooperation with 1st Air Supply and Maintenance
Centre Command (1st ASMC) of the Turkish Air Force (TurAF). Integration
works have been verified with ground and flight tests on both F-4E 2020
and F-16 Block 40 aircraft. Integration works on the F-4E 2020s have been
completed and ground vibration tests went without hitch. A TurAF F-4E
2020 aircraft fitted with AselPOD already performed test flights. Aselsan
cooperates with Lockheed Martin for the integration of AselPOD onto F-16
Block 40/50 and 50+ aircraft. As part of integration works, one of the
AselPOD prototypes has recently been sent to the US and it is currently
undergoing tests at the System Integration Laboratory [SIL] at Lockheed
Martin’s facilities. Integration works on F-16C/D Block 40/50 and 50+ air-craft are expected to completed in 2015. Subject to successful integration,
flight tests and certification on F-16C/D Block 40/50 and 50+ aircraft,
Aselsan is expected to be contracted by the SSM for the serial production
of around 20 AselPODs for TurAF.
Designed, developed and produced under a U$51.55 million contract
awarded by the SSM in 2006 to meet the targeting pod requirement of the
TuAF, AselPOD will replace TuAF’s aging AN/AAQ-14 LANTIRN targeting
pods. Aselsan has developed and produced four AselPOD prototypes
under the contract awarded by the SSM in 2006 to meet the targeting pod requirement of the
TuAF, AselPOD will replace TuAF’s aging AN/AAQ-14 LANTIRN targeting
pods.
