TAI’nin Logosu değişti


Türk Havacılık ve Uzay Sanayii A.Ş.’nin (TUSAŞ/TAI) logosu değişti. Yeni logosunda TAI adı yerine Türkçe yazışmalarda TürkHavacılık UzaySanayii ve İngilizce yazışmalarda Turkish Aerospace logolu metin yer alacak. Logoda yer alan kelimelerin maksatlı olarak bitişik yazıldığı öğrenildi. C4Defence’in edindiği bilgiye göre logonun tanıtımı bugün saat 16:00'da personele yapılacak, yarın ise kamuoyu ile paylaşılacak. TAI daha önce de logoda tadilata gitmişti. F-16 fabrikası olarak kurulan tesiste bu uçakların üretimi tamamlanınca işler de durmuştu. Bunun ardından TAI farklı hava platformları için sipariş alınca TAI’nin F-16 ile ilgisi kalmamıştı. Bunun üzerine logoda yer alan havalanmakta olan F-16 amblemi silinmişti. Yeni logonun uluslararası lansmanı ise birkaç gün içinde Birleşik Krallık’ta düzenlenecek Farnborough Havacılık Fuarında yapılacak.

Turkey Received Delivery Of Its First F-35 Aircraft


Turkey, being a program partner under the F-35 project since its inception in 1999, received delivery of its first aircraft in a ceremony held in Fort Worth, USA. The F-35 aircraft, which the Turkish defense industry sector is actively involved in production, will remain in the USA for a while for the training of our pilots, and will start to arrive to the duty posts in our country starting from November 2019.

Within the scope of the F-35 project, acknowledged as one of the most important consortium projects in the world and in which our country has participated in the Concept Demonstration Phase (CDP) in 1999, System Development and Demonstration (SDD) phase in 2002, and in Production Sustainment and Follow on Development (PSFD) phase in 2007, Turkey received delivery of its first F-35 aircraft in a ceremony held at Lockheed Martin facilities in Fort Worth, Texas, USA.

Deputy Undersecretary Serdar Demirel who gave a speech at the ceremony said "Turkey has provided the strongest contribution to this program since its beginning and has allocated significant resources to this partnership. In addition, participation of the Turkish industry contributes significantly to the cost effectiveness of the program. While Turkey is continuing to serve the global peace and security as a reliable and stable NATO ally, F-35 will help protect our country's territorial integrity and the security of our nation for the future generations.”

Lockheed Martin President and CEO Marillyn Hewson stated that today they are honored to present the first F-35A aircraft to the Republic of Turkey and said: “For our partner nations, the advanced capabilities and technologies of this aircraft are truly transformational, and we are confident that for decades to come the F-35 will play a decisive role in enhancing global security around the world.”

The first F-35 aircraft received is also the first 5th Generation Combat aircraft to enter the Turkish Air Force Command inventory. Turkey is planning to buy, extending to years, 100 F-35 aircraft which will create a multiplier effect on the operational efficiency of the Air Force Command with its superior capabilities as low observability, sensor technologies and radar system. In this context, 30 aircraft have already been ordered.

The F-35 Project, in addition to increasing the deterrence of the Turkish Armed Forces and meeting the requirement of the Turkish Air Force for a next-generation fighter, is creating new business opportunities for Turkish Defense Industry companies and is allowing our firms to take part in the global supply chain of a fifth-generation air platform such as the F-35. Parts produced by Turkish industrial companies, including Alp Aviation, Ayesaş, Kale Aerospace, Kale Pratt & Whitney and TAI, have been installed on all aircraft since the first F-35 as well as on our own aircraft delivered today.

In this context,
  • the center fuselage, center fuselage composite and metallic parts, inlet duct skins, air-to-ground weapon pylon are being produced by TAI;
  • Rear Hub for F135 engines, nickel and titanium discs, landing gear, brake system and aircraft structural parts are being produced by Alp Aviation;
  • panoramic cockpit display and missile remote interface unit components by Ayesaş;
  • aircraft fuselage and wing structural parts by Kale Aerospace;
  • various engine parts for the F135 engines by Kale Pratt & Whitney.
Parts produced for the world's biggest defense companies such as Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, GE Aviation, Pratt & Whitney, Marvin Engineering, L3 and UTAS are being delivered on time conforming with the requirements of high quality and cost-effective.

The first received F-35 aircraft with tail number 18-0001 will be assigned to Luke Air Base in Arizona for use in pilot training. Activation work is already continuing at the Malatya 7th Main Jet Base Command which will be the first base where the F-35 aircraft will be deployed in Turkey and which also will host the Integrated Training Center where the pilot and maintenance training will be provided. Training activities will begin in country in 2020 following the arrival of the first aircraft in Turkey in November 2019.
 



UK unveils new Tempest fighter jet model

A model of the UK's planned new fighter jet, the Tempest, has been unveiled at the Farnborough Air Show.

The UK's Defence Secretary, Gavin Williamson, said the jet could be used with either pilots or as a drone.

The craft will eventually replace the existing Typhoon fighter jet. It will be developed and built by BAE Systems, engine maker Rolls-Royce, Italy's Leonardo and missiles expert MBDA.

Mr Williamson said the UK would be investing £2bn in the new project.

The hope is to see it flying by 2035.

Mr Williamson said the programme was aimed at ensuring the UK's continued leadership in fighter technology and control of air space in future combat: "We have been a world leader in the combat air sector for a century, with an enviable array of skills and technology, and this strategy makes clear that we are determined to make sure it stays that way."

He added that the UK, currently excluded from the latest fighter programme underway between France and Germany, was not against forming a partnership with other nations: "It shows our allies that we are open to working together to protect the skies in an increasingly threatening future - and this concept model is just a glimpse into what the future could look like."

'Direction of travel'
Aeropace giant Airbus embraced the move: "Airbus welcomes the UK's commitment of funding for the future fighter project. We look forward to continuing collaborative discussions with all relevant European players."

Earlier, the chief executive of BAE Systems, Charles Woodburn, told the BBC's Today programme that the new jet would be some time in coming.

"We already have the Typhoon platform which forms the absolute bedrock of European air defence and that'll be in service for decades to come," he said.

He added that the inner workings of the new craft would start life within the Typhoon.

"The important thing about the new concept is that it will illustrate a direction of travel and many of those technologies that will be embodied in that will first see their service through the Typhoon.

"For example, upgrades on the avionics, upgrades in the weapons systems, upgrades in the radar will be deployed through the Typhoon and will be deployed there and then."


 
Ukraine, Turkey in talks to produce military cargo plane

Ukraine's state-owned defense industrial group Ukroboronprom announced in a statement that it has held talks with Turkey for the joint production of the new AN-188 military cargo plane. The aircraft will be produced by Kiev-based defense company Antonov with a capacity of 50 tons and the Turkish delegation will visit its facilities in Kiev in this regard, according to Ukrainian media.

"In the near future, a Turkish delegation will visit the state-run Antonov to finalize the drafting of legal documents on establishing a joint venture to develop, build and test the AN-188 aircraft. According to the legislation, the documents will be submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine for consideration. The Turkish side will carry out the relevant procedure as well," the press service of Ukraine's state-run military, Ukroboronprom, said in a statement on July 17.

Ukroboronprom said that they aim to establish a partnership with Turkey to bring together the Antonov aircraft manufacturing company operating under its roof and Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) for the design, production and test flights of the AN-188 military cargo plane. Ukroboronprom General Director Pavlo Bukin and the Undersecretary for Defense Industries İsmail Demir came together in April at the 2018 Eurasia Airshow in Antalya to discuss this issue. It was noted in the statement released by Ukroboronprom that the company and TAI officials met again on July 16 at the Farnborough International Aviation Fair in the United Kingdom, and that the interest in maintaining cooperation in this direction has continued.

According to the statement, a TAI delegation will soon visit Antonov's facilities in Ukrainian capital city Kiev to prepare official documents to form a partnership for the AN-188 military cargo plane.

Antonov aims to develop the AN-188 military cargo plane through the ongoing AN-178 platform in line with NATO standards. The AN-188 turbojet military cargo aircraft, with a capacity of 50 tons, can carry a wide range of loads including military equipment, military and construction equipment, helicopters, humanitarian aid and containers with up to 300 soldiers.

Equipped with precision landing gear and with four turbojet engines, the aircraft will be capable of landing and departing on all kinds of runways up to 600 meters long.

Turkey aims to carry out joint projects with Ukraine, which has significant knowledge and experience in the defense field. To this end, while negotiating for the Altay tank engine, ASELSAN and ROKETSAN also signed two agreements in Ukraine last year.

ASELSAN signed a contract agreement with SFTE Spets Techno Export to supply Zaslon-L'Active Protection Systems, while ROKETSAN signed a collaboration agreement with the same company for the joint development of explosive reactive armor (ERA).

Active Protection System Pulat to be manufactured by ASELSAN and its Ukrainian partner has begun to be integrated into tanks after successfully passing tests in recent months.

ASELSAN signed a $44 million contract last year with the state-owned foreign trade company Spets Techno Export for the ASELSAN software-based military radio family products in order to meet the needs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

In addition, during Ankara session of the joint commission of military-technical cooperation established between Turkey and Ukraine, the Ukrainian and Turkish authorities signed a memorandum of understanding to supply Ukraine with unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and to open a joint venture.

A week ago, the First Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleg Gladkovskyi visited Baykar Makina's Istanbul center, which produces the Bayraktar TB-2 armed UAVs. During the visit, the issues of shipping to Ukraine and the opening of a joint UAV construction center were discussed.
