I estimate it won't be possible without significant help from the USA or Europe on key technologies.

Rational suggestions. Turkey-US relation won't be frozen forever, after Erdogan goes situation will be changed, and I believe Turkey will get F-35, it is only a matter of time. Develop a SAM system required much less work and time than a 5-gen fighter and may be affordable for Turkey. If a leader is making irrational decisions, then it is important to question such decisions instead of pinning the blame on external players for drawing a line, settle for inferior solutions, and/or embark on extremely ambitious projects which may or may not deliver. Rationality takes a back seat otherwise.
Closely study the S-400 system, and focus on developing a similar system of your own. Try to reach an understanding with USA for this matter and a way forward. Developing a 5th generation aircraft from scratch is expected to be a far more expensive and difficult undertaking in comparison.
My 2 cents.
US knew this well. That why they dared to rule Turkey out of F-35 program since US knew Turkey cannot find a matching alternative.I estimate it won't be possible without significant help from the USA or Europe on key technologies.
Do you think Japan can make a fifth gen fighter alone if it was given a budget of say 1 trillion dollars?US knew this well. That why they dared to rule Turkey out of F-35 program since US knew Turkey cannot find a matching alternative.
Well, then you have no choice at all. Saab uses US engines.
Maybe I should say that Turkey is ruled out by UK/US....?
They are going to use UCAV as fighter jetsvery bad move of turkey f-35 was future of TUAF for next 40 years like f-16s . this is what happen when politicians involve in defense matters . urdogan's cheap shot but TUAF will pay the price .
that will be in 2120 not in 2020 .They are going to use UCAV as fighter jets
In 2070 yes for the USAF, but a turboprop ucav can't replace fighters.that will be in 2120 not in 2020 .
You already know it is inherited from US technology, then you must know US can put restrictions on it. Huawei just proved this for you.I was talking about the Volvo Aero RM12 - which is based on a GE-F404 - but is superior to that ...
so turkey would gain some know-how - how to further develop or upgrade existing engines... Like I was talking about the GE110 to GE132 upgrade if that is possible
Yes... please
They are going to use UCAV as fighter jets
Lol, you import many parts in your missiles and call it indigenous. You are like the Indian panjeets. We are not the stupid one who ad a turbofan engine in smart bomb and trying to make it cruise missile. The one who thinks they have ToT but nothing then assemble line.
Now go back to your cave and try to make from a smart bomb a cruise missile...

You shouldn't ask a Chinese guy about Japan capabilities - they have no problems in developing stuff superior to the most defense industries... I beefed about that with another Chinese bot - luckily littlefish is not like him...Do you think Japan can make a fifth gen fighter alone if it was given a budget of say 1 trillion dollars?
1 trillion $$ are you serious Well of course with so much money. But time is needed.Do you think Japan can make a fifth gen fighter alone if it was given a budget of say 1 trillion dollars?
