Mate, i wanna underline that non of these fighting Technics are historical.....All of them are invented a few years ago or 1-2 decades ago at most.

While its true that the term of "Azerbijani" or "Azeri" was artificially created by the Soviets and Iran to destinguish Turks form the Anatolian Turks, there is some legitimacy in them having their own somewhat semi-seperate identity. I personally prefer to called them Azerbaijani Turks. They have historically controlled lots of empires and dynasties who opposed Anatolian Turkish dynasties and empires. The Safavids, The Qajars, The Qara Qoyunlar, The Aq Qoyunlar, The Afsharids, The Kwarazmians and etc. These were are politically and military rivals of Ottomans(mostly). They have revived Persian identity and culture and brought Shia Islam to Iran, contrary to the Sunni Anatolia. Why do you think we for some reason see the Babur Empire as Turkic, but dont with the many of the aformentioned Azeri Turkish empires? I think the concept of Azerbaijani should continue existing as a nationality and for historical reasons, though i simply see them as Turks that took differents paths and choices in the big mystery of time.

For me to call them Azeris is not such a big problem as they inhabit the land called Azerbaijan but I know that they are our brothers, that we come from the same roots, that we speak basically the same language and that we are one nation in two different countries...Something like Romanians and Moldovans or Germans and Austrians- the same people but living in two different countries that have been separated during history. Hope they think the same about us.

I agree with first few sentences of your post; However, Politic and religious background between two Turkish states are not the point here. How ''Azeri'' name is created(made up) based on interests of Soviet and Persians; and why Turks,Turks of Azerbaijan, Azerbaijani Turks have to be used based on historical and genetic facts.

The fact that Turks of Azerbaijan and Turkey come from the same race, and therefore to be called Turk is the point here. We can discuss the issues between two states in the past, but we live in Today, repeating the same mistakes brings us nowhere as in the past, but works in favour of ''the soviet or persian'' interests as in the past. Do you still want to serve for their interests or interests of Turks for today and future?

I repeat Azeri is a made up name; but Turk, Turks of Azerbaijan or Azerbaijani Turks are the right name and term based on history, genetic, culture, linguistic etc.

The question is if you use the made up name of ''soviet and persians'' or perefer to use the right name and term.

What irks me the most is how sometimes/often our own politicians and media call Azerbaijani Turks as 'Azeri'. Common people may make this mistake due to ignorance, but politicians and media don't have the luxory to make such mistakes.

Me thinks pretty much the same thing. What are Azerbaijani's if not descendants from Turkmens. Same with Turks.

what u say is true even before persians and soviets make up azerbijan those land called as turkmenia just search turcomania in google it's show many historical map

but yet agian qajars and afshars are not from turkmens who live in the western side of Caspian sea they are from turkmens who live in the eastern side of Caspian sea
