Turkey’s planned domestic car will be electric-engine: Minister

Right now electric cars are a niche market, but growing market and will eventually become as common as petrol cars are today. If Turkish companies want to be a player in this market then they need to get in now.
Not in 20 years or so when its controlled by European, East Asian and US car manufacturers. Then they will face the same problems they do now. A tight market, rivals with decades more experience, lack of brand awareness etc.
That is exactly why they are going for electric. Check the youtube video posted at the top of this page for more info.

Just so we're clear on the issue.

Turkey is going for EV because it's still a relatively new market and the politicians believe that it's possible to brand the car in a new market.

Turkey doesn't have a brand name at the moment, so it's worth nothing atm until it hits the market, they can gamble on people feeling nationalistic to sell the car.

The information on this EV is still pretty limited, so people don't know much about what they can expect.

Instead of building a gasoline or diesel based car that you can use anywhere with a proper road, they're opting for EV. like someone said, where will you recharge the batteries ?

. . . . .
What happenned to those "prototypes" ?
Seems vapourised...
