Units of Turkey’s naval and air forces, coast guard and Ministry of Transportation, using different kinds of naval vessels, fighter bombers and helicopters, will take part in the exercise, supervised by Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) and the Islamic Republic Army as well as certain other countries.

The maneuver is held in the Aegean Sea once in two years for discovery and rescue in the sea.

Turkey can play a major role in bridging the gap between nato and iran

Its good news that we are holding Joint excercises. Start rebuilding the relationship that has been breaking down recently.

However I don't understand what they mean by 'supervising' :what:.

who knows what they actually said. there is alot of mis translation I heard.

Interesting wording from Irna

Iranian forces to observe Turkish naval exercises

Wed 25 April 2012 10:57 GMT | 13:57 Local Time

Iranian forces will attend the Sea Lion-2012 search and rescue exercises to held by the Turkish navy and coast guard off the Izmir coast.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) and the Islamic Republic Army will observe the exercises, Iranian state-run news agency IRNA reported.

The forces of other countries will also be present as observers.

The exercises are held in the Aegean Sea every other year.

Turkey is acting as mediator between Iran and the NATO. Turkey has increasingly been playing a role in world affairs. Erdogan has even been improving relations with China which have never really been too good because of the Uighurs.

So like Iran. Turkey was kind enough to have them as observers in the exercise but their media make it "Supervision".
