Aybak was a commander in the Ayyubid Army.
Qutuz was a noblemen in the Khwarazmian Empire, Mongols captured him and sold him to a Egyptian slave merchant and he sold him to Aybak, he became Vice Sultan.
Baibars was mid. 20s when he was betrayed and captured in Bulgaria and also ended up in Egypt where he became a Soldier under the Ayyubid rulers and later fought as commander under Qutuz in Ain Jalut.
"As-Salih (Ayyubid Sultan) shut himself in the Cairo citadel, and could no longer trust even the once-loyal Emirs who had brought him to power. The lack of loyal soldiers led him to begin buying large numbers of Kipchak slaves, who were available in unusually large numbers following the Mongol invasions in central Asia. They soon formed the core of his army, and were known as Mamluks."
