Turkey to modernize Pakistani Perry class frigates with Genesis

We need to upgrade these Perry class frigrates bcz U.S. is giving PN just hulls with engines and some obsolete equipment.:frown:

How much these uprgrades will cost and how much time it will take to upgrade all 4 PN frigates?

So how much will cost us these OHP's in total from what we have paid U.S. + other new upgrades, integrations and modifications?

Please elaborate on "obsolete equipments"...

.
Pakistan bought this junk for 75million$.
Without upgrade this decommissioned frigate was an inactivated US junk waiting to be disposed off.

If we'd have focused on type 54 Chinese frigate, it may have served us till 2030 without any upgrade.

Pakistan will never cease to get plundered by US every time we drew agreement.
F-16
WOT
Transit facility.......

Pakistan didn't buy anything. The money paid is transfer cost, which includes such things as crew training, refurbishing the ship etc. The ship itself is GIVEN in AID.

As for junk, if OHPs are junk, then half the Turkish navy is junk, half the Spanish navy is junk and half the Taiwanese navy is junk.

McInerney was a HOT transfer: the moment she decommissioned from USN she recommissioned with PN (i.e. she remained operational, she was never mothballed or anything). She came out of active USN services to go into active PN service.

A type 054A might well set you back $240 million. So you'ld get 1x Type 054A instead of 3x OHP.

(when you're done BS-ing out of the back of your neck, pls let us know)

Chinese have modified the french Dauphins/Panthers according to their requirements. Do you think Chinese communication system are compatible with American?

If the chinese can copy a USN sonar ....

This is absolute BS. Simply because a ship that comes straight out of USN active service is not 'just hulls with engines and some obsolete equipment'. If it were, it couldn't function in the active USN service.

:hitwall::hitwall: Where did you read that this frigate was new?
It was inactivated decommissioned junk. You can forget Sonar.

Defense Security Cooperation Agency
NEWS RELEASE

Media/Public Contact: (703) 601-3859

Pakistan – Refurbishment of Oliver Hazard Perry Class Frigate
WASHINGTON, Feb. 19, 2010 – The Defense Security Cooperation Agency notified Congress Feb. 18 of a possible Foreign Military Sale to Pakistan for refurbishment of one OLIVER HAZARD PERRY Class Frigate and associated equipment, parts and logistical support for a complete package worth approximately $78 million.
The Government of Pakistan has requested a possible sale for refurbishment of one OLIVER HAZARD PERRY Class Frigate, USS MCINERNEY (FFG-8), being provided as Excess Defense Articles (grant EDA notification is being submitted separately) with onboard spares, spare and repairs parts, support equipment, publications and technical data, U.S. Government and contractor engineering and logistics support services, and other related elements of logistics support. The estimated cost of the refurbishment and support is $78 million.
This proposed sale will contribute to the foreign policy and national security of the United States by helping to improve the security of a friendly country that has been and continues to be a partner in combating insurgents in Pakistan.
Pakistan requires the capabilities of USS McINERNEY (FFG-8) to participate in U.S. and coalition led counter-narcotics and counter-piracy operations and to assist with Pakistan’s efforts to secure its maritime border. Pakistan will have no difficulty absorbing the ship into its armed forces.
The proposed sale of this equipment and support will not alter the basic military balance in the region.
The prime contractor is unknown at this time. There are no known offset agreements proposed in connection with this potential sale.
Implementation of this proposed sale will not require the assignment of any U.S. Government and contractor representatives to Pakistan.
There will be no adverse impact on U.S. defense readiness as a result of this proposed sale.
This notice of a potential sale is required by law and does not mean the sale has been concluded.

This is what we gave up against the decommissioned junk.

The Pakistan-Turkish corvette programme was supposed to involve a purpose designed corvette and deep transfer of technology to allow Pakistan to build the corvettes indigenously. The corvettes themselves would not have been the Milgem/Ada Class corvettes being constructed for the Turkish navy as has been speculated, but based on the Milgem design. A key aspect of the deal was to maximise the role and involvement of the private sector in line with, and based on the experience of, the Turkish model in defence procurement and planning. After IDEAS2008 the three member Turkish conglomerate behind the design presented it to the PN for approval, and by Summer 2009 negotiations were supposed to start in earnest leading to an agreement. What ever happened in Summer 2009, there has been no agreement, and currently the status of the programme is unknown. If it isn’t floating face down dead in the water, it’s in deep freeze.

Man, you need to take a look at FFG related threads in PN section to find out more. These kind of remarks have already been answered many times. When you study more about FFG then you will know how effective and capable it is still today.

I have seen pictures of Turkish FFG with MK41 cells but cant find it where.

There is none. The one Cabatli posted is a Australian Perry class. While the upgrade can integrate the MK-41 we have not installed ours yet on the ships. You can check our perry class ships from recent pirate hunting missions as part of CTF 151 and they still don't have MK-41s. Nor did we upgrade our mekos with them. Even though we had a tender floating around.

It doesn't have to be installed to make it effective though. If you integrate the CMS with the original weapons it will still give you an effective ship.

Sir,

Those hulls are not obsolete---just because the americans retired them.

After they get refurbished / reconditioned---they are as good as new for what pakistan's needs are.
