Turkey to join BRIC countries soon, former UK PM says

Turkey's population is too small. In the long term I can't see Turkey's economy at the same level as Indonesia, Mexico, Brazil, Russia, India and China.

And countries like South Korea are even smaller than Turkey, how can they be compared with the above nations?

Population of the above mentioned countries

China 1,341,090,000

India 1,191,270,000

Indonesia 237,556,363

Brazil 190,732,694

Russia 141,927,297

Mexico 112,322,757

Turkey 72,561,312

South Korea 49,773,145

Turkey should learn lesson from us when it comes to population .. :partay: :partay:

According to wiki the human developing index of BRIC countries are: 0.699, 0.719, 0.519 and 0.663.
Whereas Turkey has 0.679 SK 0.877 and Mexico 0.750.
So Turkey has still long way to go. Interestingly HDI was developed by a Pakistani and an Indian Economist in 1990.

It's not only about BRIC nations, other countries will also change the current world order. Ever heard of 'the next eleven'?

These countries are; Indonesia, Turkey, Mexico, Iran, Egypt, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nigeria, Vietnam, South Korea and the Philippines.

The question is not whether individual countries can change the world order, but by what scale. In next 40 years China and India are going to become the largest and second largest economies in the world relegating US to the third position, with that a huge change in geo-political affiliations.

Can any of the eleven countries even dream of doing that? As they say size matters

Indonesia can (with 240 million people), but the rise of those other nations will also affect the current world order (though on a smaller scale). What matters here (for me) is the fact that the West will no longer be able to colonize other countries like they have been doing for centuries and even to this day.
