Turkey Receives Third A400M Transport Aircraft

ANKARA, Turkey — A third A400M military transport aircraft was delivered to the Turkish Air Force, Turkish officials said.

Turkey suspended the flights of the two A400Ms delivered by the Airbus Group, the plane's manufacturer, after an A400M crashed near Sevilla, Spain, last year.

Turkish officials said the two aircraft were sent to Airbus for retrofit work and reinforced software work.

The officials said A400M flights will resume in January.

In 2003, Turkey signed a deal for a batch of 10 A400Ms, with final deliveries scheduled for 2018.

A400M deliveries to Turkey have faced some delays, sparking a dispute between Airbus and the Turkish government. Turkey accused Airbus for failing in its delivery timetable, and Airbus accused Turkey of using delays for bargaining.

Other A400M client nations are Belgium, France, Germany, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Spain and Britain.

I'm just so annoyed by how little we are buying/producing of these. We have a whole fleet of 35 old C-130's and C-160T's that need to be replaced. I suppose we are waiting for our own domestic airliner.

Air lift capability is a part of mobility and rapid reaction, also the reason why we build Levent.

So how many units of different category can we transport using these ? if we have to move our army from western part to eastern part of Turkey sure it makes sense, and perhaps that's why we have so many new landing strips.... (I don't think calling them airports would be fully justified).

It have nothing to do with an Invasion, more with rapid reaction like Hurshid mentioned. The People in Central/south Asia and Africa are our Brothers, we need to put Weight in these Regions to Change the Region for our and their Favor !

It can transport 37 tonnes of military equipment. It can hold up to 116 fully equipped soldiers.

The A400M program is ''JV'' by a couple of European countries to replace older transport aircraft, such as the C-160 Transall and C-130 Hercules.
The A440M is a tactical airlifter with strategic capabilities,designed and developed by Airbus,if thats what you meant.

German airlift capability is obsolete. They only have C-160 Transall. Turkey has modernized C-130, C-160, C-235 and A-400

" I will never understand this, they don´t modernize their Fleets like Turkey, they just buy more new Tactial Airlifter which provides them more capabilities then older ones, that aren´t have these capabilities.

TuAF begins air refuel training on A-400 M. A-400 M can be refueled with a basket system. The basket will be attached to the boom on the KC-135s.
