Turkey-Pakistan solidarity reflects mutual affection, Tayyib Erdogan
LAHORE, Oct 28 (APP): Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has said that the existing cooperation and sincere solidarity between Turkey and Pakistan is a reflection not only of common historical backgrounds but also of the affection between the people of two countries besides their common democratic values.In a letter to the Jamaat e Islami chief Syed Munawar Hasan, received here at Mansoorah, he said that the relationship between Turkey and Pakistan constituted yet another unprecedented example in the cooperation that democratic countries were expected to render towards one another. He was responding to a letter from the JI chief congratulating him on winning public support in a referendum seeking important constitutional changes.
I wholeheartedly believe that our friendship and brotherhood will further improve in the period ahead, on the ground of common interests and democratic values and with a view to contributing to international peace, stability and prosperity, Erdogan said.
The Prime Minister noted that the recent referendum in his country was a crucial step in the consolidation of democracy and supremacy of law and the significance of the constitutional changes that had been approved by the Turkish people was quite obvious. He said that as in the past, his government would continue democratic advancement process in Turkey with a determination until it reached the highest standards that his country deserved by all means.
The Turkish Premier expressed deep grief over the saddening flood disaster that took place in Pakistan causing heavy loss of life and property. He said the relief and support work carried out by the Turkish people and government for the rehabilitation of the displaced people also depicted the sincere relationship between the two countries. He expressed the view that Pakistan had the necessary strength and will to overcome every such difficulty.
