I will say they are prerty close and Iran is more than a match for Turkey(though Turkey might be ahead in some sectors). You cant say they are no match. No match will be like say Britain,France or Germany compared to Turkey.

Well i dont think so. You cant compare a conflict that took place hundreds of years ago and apply it to todays situation.

Did the OP even knows the Turks (Ottoman) were at war with the Russian Empire since 1590 (The signing of Treaty of Constantinople) Can't think of any major war between 1600-now that have Turkey and Russia fighting on the same side. Maybe WW2? But then iIRC turkey is neutral in that war.

He should have learn from Pakistan, who supported Taliban and later same fire strike the home.
