You got some valid points, and your historical knowledge is commendable. Yet you make gross exaggerations, like BordoEnes. There is no conspiracy going on within the CHP. Today they are just a shadow of the 1920s and 1930s, their leadership is laughable as best and their organizational capacity has perished. People are perfectly aware of the autocratic rule of Mustafa Kemal of the 1920s and 1930s, with his emphasis on purging conservative islam and replacing it with Westernism. These shocks naturally failed in the village public, which constituted about 90% of the total population and were all illiterate.

There is no doubt that Ataturk did not represent the Anatolian village dweller when his Kemalist rule was on the fore during the 20s and 30s, he, along with his comrades, insisted on instilling new values that were according to him compatible with progress and a better society. That's the question we ought to ask ourselves. Was this necessary, why did they insist on our traditional values being incompatible with progress

Nobel laureate Sancar donates his award to Anıtkabir


Aziz Sancar, who won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry last year, has donated his medal and certificate to the mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic of Turkey, following celebrations at the site to mark Ataturk Memorial, Youth and Sports Day on May 19.

In Stockholm while accepting his award last December, Sancar expressed his gratitude to the republic for “sponsoring most of his education.”

“This award was earned thanks to Atatürk,” he said at the time.
