Turkey leaning towards HQ-9

.
.
Mate,i am not knowledgeable as some guys here, but don't we have our own IFF system and if we co-develop/product the HQ-9, can't we use our own IFF instead of "made-in-China IFF". ?

According to the article even if you co-develop it it will still be kind of impossible to integrate it with over half of Turkey's radars and NATO satellites.
As far as i know Greece says that it has integrated their S-300's but many analysts are highly sceptical about those claims.

.
Turkey has made the right choice if they have set their minds to HQ-9s. It will provide substantial TOT to Turkey. Pakistan also operates HQ-9s and for being a friend of both sides, can act as a trust broker.

More than a few systems have been transfered to Turkey in the past from China through Pakistan, some are seen in public some aren't.

How's S-300P when compared to HQ-9?

(btw come to ChatBox)

I dont understand one thing here...Why does China want this deal? I mean, if HQ-9 is chosen, there is no doubt that Nato`s hands will be on HQ-9, they will work on it, will try to find weak points etc...Me confused :undecided:

HQ-9 cannot be that different to S-300 apart from the software/electronics, which NATO could inspect in Greece, Bulgaria.

#edit: well HQ-9 is actually based on S-300V, Above mentioned countries have S-300P, so as for your question, imo they want to get high-ticket customers to promote their systems better.

This news cant be true,i wouldnt take it serious.
They are just using the chinese to get a better deal with the ''others''.

Mate, to the best of my knowledge, China never sells the product they are using themselves but sell a slightly altered Product which is their " Export Version " so their defenses are not compromised.

Most likely duo serious Turkish contribution, this will alter the system but wont effect it in such a way that the sytems would not become inferior to the original. Just a hunch.

The solution is the same as i proposed, and Greece already implented. Simply build the IFF and other major circuits/chips/components at home so the integration to the NATO air defence infrastructure would be easy. Its not that hard contrary to what most people think.

If this is true it could be a door opener as the chinese systems are much cheaper than western ones.A fully NATO integrated AA system on par with quality to western ones but cheaper,i can see now why the american representatives are throwing a hissy. If Turkey adopts the HQ-9 others will follow,I don't think that the turkish armed forces will adopt an inferior product just because it's cheaper, they have the money.

Yup, infact its being implented throughout the world. S.Korea's KS-SAM is basicly a fusion between the Russian S-300 and local/western circuits/chips to make it compatible with their infrastructure. If USA wasnt so stubborn, they would offer the same but now their systems is even rejected by one of its closest ally.

It's very easy. Especially after the testing TAI's ÖZGÜR program in the Exercise ISIK'13. ÖZGÜR chose F-4s as prototype. But in that exercise we tried it on our F-16 (both block 40/50/50 CCIP). And according to the head of TAI. It was very successful. For those don't know what ÖZGÜR is, it is an independent IFF system developted by TAI to the Turkish Air Force.

What I mean is, after completing the ÖZGÜR, It will recieve NATO Classifications but it will be us that chose who as Friend or Foe. HQ-9 can be easily integrated into Turkish made ÖZGÜR. Which it will automatically fit with NATO systems.
Greece couldn't manage to integrate it's S-300s because they don't have their own IFF program.
