If Turkey block Bosporus, it will mean war. No NATO forces will aid Turkey if Turkey is the aggressor... Turkey need to stop provoke Russia and learn to live peacefully with its neighbors, especially Russia.

Nope. But you don't block international waterway. If Turkey is smart, it should look like a victim of Russian aggression, instead of being the aggressor. Shooting down Russian warplanes while Israel gave warnings does not make

We can only block it in a war situation,since thats not the case,we cant block anything.
We did give warnings before,for a whole month,they didnt listen.
What was a Russian bomber doing in that area when the closest ISIS territory is 250 km away?

And if russia somehow managesss to convince the world that turkey is buying oil from ISIS and supporting them.. Don't u think that NATO will abandon you.? ..

For my information, what's the legal status of this waterway? As I understand it passes smack through Istanbul and technically should be Turkish territorial water. All ships should have to obtain permission from Turkey before entering it. Or is their a treaty which binds Turkey to allow international shipping traffic through it?

Passage of ships through the Bosporus and the Dardanelles is regulated by a 1936 multinational treaty, the Montreux Convention. This treaty gave Turkey control of the straits, which makes sense as the straits are fully within its territory.
