Turkey could be considering Pakistani produced JF-17 fighter aircraft

Unlike Pakistan, they have no issue acquiring F-16 financially or politically, why would they acquire Thunders?

Turkey can acquire JF17s in numbers. Block 3 would definitely be a good addition to make up vast numbers and reduce the use of F16s and other jets...reducing the use of those airframes would mean Turkey will able to keep those around for a longer time.

Pakistani jets for Turkey

Hussain also said four ships would be built under the project, two of them in Turkey while two more in Pakistan’s Karachi province.

About Turkey’s procurement of the single-propeller Super Mushshak trainer aircraft from Pakistan, the minister said: “Turkey is procuring 52 Super Mushshak trainer aircraft from Pakistan. This is [a] very good training aircraft for basic training of pilots.

“This aircraft is very popular in other countries of the world. Many countries [are] using this aircraft, and we are exporting.”

He said Turkey was also considering Pakistani produced JF-17 fighter aircraft.

“They are considering this aircraft, because they know in detail about this aircraft. In future, let’s hope [for the procurement].”

About Pakistan’s fight against terrorism, he said Pakistan is at the frontline of the fight against “this menace”.

“Our armed forces have two operations. We have started [anti-terror] Zar-e-Azb operation three years back. Now, we started another operation Radd-ul-Fasaad,” the minister said.

Turkey have better options like euro fighter typhoon for replacing F-4 phantom considering recent UK turkey aggrement over TFX. But JF-17 block III would be a politically economical sounds options. Turkey can get large number to replace and supplements their front line fighter . Turkey don't need to use expensive western fighter to fight Kurdish rebel JF-17 and UAV will be enough .

Again as I mentioned in my previous post...it's the cost factor. They can probably get 5 JF17s for the price of 3 F16s. So it can add more numbers with the same amount of money spent. Block 3 is going to be quite capable.

Certainly they have no issue acquiring F16s or F35s even. It's not a matter of that they can't afford it or they are not allowed to buy it. It's rather a matter of a high/low combination. They already have enough F16s and are going to have F35s...JF17(block 3) can serve as the low part of that high/low combo.

Turkey have the issue of shortage of F-16 pilot after the screening of Gülen supporters from the Turk Forces.
US says no Pakistani pilots for F-16 training for Turk AirForce.

Who gives a f)); if they are interested then they are interested there is no need to create drama end of story

Most importantly JFs can be freely used against terrorist scums by keeping them outside NATO. Turkey badly needs to build independent systems from both man and machine perspectives..

Shortage is there but it's being gradually removed. Anyway, not allowing Pak pilots is also a warning shot!!! Having independent aircrafts and pilots are a must..

Moreover, JFs can work as a platform to test all of home made systems - AESA, EW pods, WVR/BVR missiles, avionics etc. which can go a long way in TFX development.

F-4 's replacement is F-35.

True.

The news sounds like fake.

The only new variable , could be the change in turkey's calculus after the US imposed sanction lately
and their protection of Gullen.

To be fair, no one thought Turkey would go for the Super Mushshaks. Even just letting the Turkish firms play with the JF-17s can be beneficial in many ways. They have a lot of subsystems that they can bring to the table to take the Thunders to the next level.

Tejas will not be inducted with hotch potch assembly. Tejas is being delayed for a reason - India is about to finalise all the stuff like AESA, Engine in 3 years.

All other components are made in India. Avionics, fly-by-wire, BVR, FADEC of engine, airframe and composite etc are fully Indian. Even UTTAM AESA and KAVERI engine is usable but underpowered. It needs more refining to make them powerful enough
Yeah yeah we all know how super duper tejas is and how it has been in development for 30 years ..
