Turk top general warns extremists should be avoided in Pakistan

I believe this kind of suggestion has been ( and is being) given personally many times. I can testify to this. First hand...

It is just a bit hard to understand why a worry or concern (which poses no danger for Turkey but should pose a danger for Pakistani people) causes such anger.

Nuclear is a very senstitive issue for many pakistanies and beacuse we already have had enough of this BS from the west, we did not expected it from a friendly country such as turkey. Giving a suggestion personally is something else, after all friendly countries do give suggestions, but to make it into the open, and the way media turned it, made pakistanies furious. Rest assured no extremist is coming into the government as the recent elections have proved the same, besides even if some one does, that does not mean he/she can just fire a nuclear weapon without a concent of the army or the people who are responsible for it. Pakistan's nuclear weapons are as safe as they would be in any other western country and i would go a step further, that they are even more safe then they would ever be in any western country given the complex nature of whats happening in S.A

So why does india suppries you? Get one thing very straight in your head irrespective of who the government is in pakistan, india will be on the forefront of everything in which it can give pakistan a bad name.
As for Afghainstan lol since when did the opinion of a failed state with a government with no authority beyond kabul started to make importance. Isnt it obivious what their masters (US & India) have to say they will follow that.
As for turkey well the turkish government did not said so, its just one general who was expressing his personal views, so you cant call his satement as representing the whole of turkey.

Dear IC,

Normally will not take up the cudgels against your remarks in bold as you are an excellant debater. Unfortunately (THE TURKISH GENERAL U TALK ABOUT )he is the MOST POWERFUL GENERAL IN TURKEY AND A CLOSE FRIEND OF GEN. M!
:woot:

Dont put false propoganda on this forum to hide the IMPORTANCE of his comments. After all he is the one who said that if muslims wear scarfs and the elected Govt. allows it he will topple them,

Await your honest answer,

Regards

I appreciate your comments. Its always a pleasure reading your posts. Well indeed he is not just a general but a powerful one, the point is what was his motive, or what came into his mind only he knows best, still being powerful is something else however i will still insist that he is not the official word and hence does not represent the whole of the turkish government.

Now i did not understand what you meant by false propaganda, but its not about hiding his comments, what you must also acknowlege is that normally issues like these are discussed within the government levels, not from a general to another general. Like i said he may be the most powerful person in turkey, but that does not gurrantee that his remarks have something to do with the official business or his remarks are the official remarks, it maybe his personal point of view or maybe a reporter asked him a question and he replied it in some another manner which latter turned out to printed like this in the media, what we call it the media hype.

The Turkish general you have been talking about is the Chief of Staff of the Turkish Armed Forces. not any other general. He knows what he is doing very well.

By the way, there is nobody who says that the government will be toppled if the Muslims will wear headscarves. People do wear them but the issue is about one special type of headscarf, which is alien to Turkish experience but has become more and more visible among the public. The idea is that this is a "political symbol", equivalent to wearing Swastikas. Thus, it cannot be allowed in universities and other public institutions. This is the issue...

He knows what he is doing very well.

So if he did it purposely then its bad on his part, giving out a negative comment about a friendly country and that too in the open doesnt suit his personality since he and Musharraf are considered to be closed friends and Turkey and pakistan enjoy good brotherly relations. How would have Turkey felt if a pakistani armychief says that turkey should stop killing the Kurds in iraq, its human rights violation. I guess the turks would have gotten equally furious. Its very easy to just comment without giving it a proper thought, without knowning the ground realites. He's an army chief and a close friend to musharraf, he should have known better.
