What I believe that threat is real and it always was.

1- US has been recently humiliated by North Korea in war of words. US ought to give its war hungry public, something to chew on. There will be some drama soon, but before this they would like to occupy Pak army in various issues... e.g. India, Iran, politics etc.

2- Pak + China are moving fast forward in arms development, mainly drones and fighter jets, this is under US scrutiny from long time. Remember TTP attack at Kamara.

4- Nuclear program, remember the revelations of Shah Mahmood Qureshi! He clearly told that he's been asked to role back Pakistan's nuclear program. Whatever IAF chief stated is very much inspired by US.

3- Last but not the least... CPEC which is hurting every one around and US as well. So any interruptions or delays work for Pakistan's enemy states.
