Two days after being elected as the President of United States, there have been reports suggesting that Donald Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi may go on to become “best of friends”. In an interview to news agency Reuters, Shalabh Kumar, an adviser to US President-elect, confidently said that the leaders of the two large democracies will become “best friends” while spearheading their nations towards strong bilateral relations.

“They will be best friends – not only the two nations will be best friends, but these two guys will be best friends. Donald Trump knows about Modi through me. He is very keen to learn about Modi. A meeting would come a little bit later – he has too much of an aggressive agenda, too many wrongs have been done to the nation that need to be sorted out,” said Kumar, the head of Republican Hindu Coalition, who has been instrumental in consolidating the Indian-American voter base for Trump.

Kumar was also recently quoted as saying that Trump was very fond of Modi and that the US President-elect was reading up on the Indian Prime Minister.

Addressing the issue of cross-border terrorism, the Chicago-based businessman added that Trump was the first president to acknowledge that “Pakistan is a perpetrator of terrorism.” Kumar also expects Trump’s supports towards the surgical strikes operation that took place on September 29. He also said, “The war against radical Islam is going to be properly prosecuted. He is going to find great partnership with India in that.”

Kumar and his family had earlier claimed donating $1.1 million to the Trump Campaign. “The Kumar family in total would contribute $2 million for the Trump Campaign and the Republican Party. It is in the best interest of the India-US relationship that I have decided to work for the victory of Trump in the November general elections,” he had said. Interestingly, Kumar had also taken a Congressional delegation to meet the then Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi.

My gut feeling is he won't be as good as he'd want to be but he's not going to be as bad as his detractors claim he'd be too.

He was in the entertainment biz .That gave him an insight into the pulse of the people .Something career politicians like Hilary Clinton & the rest couldn't gauge.
He cultivated his constituency by mouthing things they liked to hear , to get himself voted in.Having secured the presidency , he will rock the boat not capsize it.The only common feature he shares with Modi is a visceral hatred of himself & everything he stands for by the liberals & left leaning people who enjoy something of a brute majority in the academia & journalism in the US. One can't say all of it was uninvited or even not deserved.

If the communist leaders from different countries can be friends, why not right wingers and nationalists? Our communists used to give fellatio to their communist counterparts in China not so long ago

.
Trump is a business person, if India wants to best friend with him, then India will have to keep all the contract with USA even verbal contract. -- this is very hard for India, as all business person know, Indian break their promise all the time for better profit.

Its foolish to give credit to a president elect for being in the entertainment biz. If that was the case, most presidents would be from the entertainment biz.

Either you understand people and the market, or you don't. Its a person's root character. Nothing to do with this line of work.

He was always a person with strong conviction and such people will stand up for their beliefs. That is the feature he shares with Modi, or Putin for that matter.

It it also cause polarisation when you express your strong conviction in unequivocal terms. It will make others hate you for your POV.

To make a sly claim that its is invited or deserved is absurd. That is just how human nature is. They tend to abuse when they cannot handle the message or the person.

LOL.... among all the nations in the world, India is the most reliable for keeping their word

US is the most unreliable.

Pakistan does not even get a mention in that list.

Actually , most career politicians are in the entertainment biz , just that they don't realise it.

If a nominee for the post of the president or any public office ,goes forth to abuse people who hold views at variance to his own , he's setting himself up to receive precisely what he's doled out.More so , if he attains public office.
As far as 'sly' goes , you needn't attribute to others , what you possess. It's you who keeps coming out here everytime , all the time , unfailingly , in different avatars , after your previous ones get banned. That's beyond being sly .It's called weaseling it out.

I don't usually take on my compatriots , especially in a Pakistani forum , but social etiquettes & you are mutually exclusive & not all your comments can be ignored in the hope that you'd realise your limits.

All the best for whatever little time you have in your current avatar.Goes without saying , we'd see you in your next .ASAP.
